Dele Alli will be granted a move from Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window out of respect for his five years’ service to the club. The Spurs midfielder, 24, has not started a Premier League game since the opening weekend of the season and was an unused substitute last Thursday in the Europa League win over Royal Antwerp. With his team challenging at the top of the table, it is understood that Jose Mourinho wants to keep Harry Winks, who has only started Europa League games for two months, for the second half of the season but Alli will be allowed to leave for the right deal. Spurs would ideally want full market value for Alli’s departure but a six-month loan would be considered, potentially maintaining or increasing his asking price if he is playing regularly. It would make him one of the most interesting moves when the transfer market opens in three weeks’ time. Alli is still a huge asset from breaking into the first team at Spurs and becoming one of the stars of England’s runs to the World Cup semi-finals in 2018. His numbers in training have not dropped, according to sources at Spurs, but he has not been able to break into Mourinho’s team this season. Allowing him to leave reflects his rise at Spurs after arriving from MK Dons in League One and immediately making an impact in the top flight, then for England. He is unlikely to have a shortage of interested clubs in taking him and adding to their firepower for the second half of the season, having reached double figures for goals in his first three seasons in the Premier League. In the summer there was interest from Paris St Germain over a season-long loan deal but no fee was agreed, with the French club willing to pay around £3million. Alli has scored two goals in his eight appearances this season but was overlooked by Mourinho when he made five changes in midweek. Winks is another players who has not played regular football but Mourinho wants cover in his central-midfield position for the rest of the campaign.
