The Cardinals have signed WR Damiere Byrd to a one-year contract. Byrd, 5-9, 180, comes to Arizona from Carolina, where he spent the past four seasons as an undrafted free agent. In 17 career games, has 12 receptions for 129 yards and 2 TDs and is a good KO/punt returner.

I wonder if their Analytics team is at play with many of these signings. Best guess, the analytics team weights production, type of injury and re-injury probability, age, etc to come at a "dollar value" for each player. Each player on the market is now contacted per needs of the team and if contract negotiations are much lower than "dollar value" Cardinals sign the player. Otherwise not much explains these type of signings.

When you keep signing injury prone players you're trying to get players who, if healthy, are productive, for cheap then hope for the best.

New Cardinals WR Damiere Byrd had a 59.7 offensive grade in 44 snaps last season for the Panthers. He has only played 241 snaps in his 3 seasons in the league (all in Carolina). twitter.com/azcardinals/st…

There'll be 90 players at camp and nobody gets a game cheque before September.

Cardinals signed Damiere Byrd a few hours later. He reportedly ran a 4.28 40 at his Pro Day in 2015.

I like the signing of the two former Gamecocks.

Both Cooper and Byrd received very little PT on offense. Maybe they break out. Better than bringing in a UDFA or washed up vet. Possibly some upside.
