Any other long-time fans think of ol' Kent Graham whenever Anderson throws?

Strong arm, big guy, and absolutely no touch. Who can forget the joys of watching Graham hit his RBs in the helmet with screen passes because he was incapable of throwing a ball at anything less than 100 mph.

Yes, #11 winding up like he was going to throw a hail mary and then jacking the ball into LeShon Johnson's helmet was one of those rare joys of being a Cardinals fan.

If Derek Anderson is better than Graham in this respect, it isn't by much. This is the only reason it worries me to lose Leinart.

Funny you should post this, as my father and I were saying the same exact thing yesterday n the phone. When I saw DA chuck the ball 100 mph at Beanie and Hightower the other night it brought me right back to the Graham days.

I was thinking more along the lines of John Navarre, but I had forgotten those days of Kent Graham. Don't know how i could have forgotten such torture.

I see the resemblance, but I think that 2007 season demonstrated that Anderson potentially has more going for him than simply resembling a cardboard cutout of a QB the way Kent did.

Anderson is a nice dude. Graham was a mega-douche. And I say that from several interactions with Kent when I worked cardinals camp back in college. One of my least favorite Cards ever.

Anderson has a quicker release and better pocket awareness

Graham had a long throwing motion and had no feel for the rush

Anderson is better, although that is a pretty low bar to clear

The only difference is that Graham didn't have Fitz to go get the ball. If Anderson can just chuck it in the direction of Fitz he'll move us down the field. At least that's what I'm hoping.

Oh, I agree that DA is the better player of the two.

Just not enough better to keep me from getting really scared about this season. I think we might be in for a long one, and Skelton starting a few games after Week 10.

I think Ed hit it right on the head. Its going to be a long frustrating season.
I really am hoping for the best from Anderson and the Defense.I am hoping Anderson`s Pro-Bowl season was not a once-in a lifetime season and hoping that the High dollars defensive stars on the defense remember to play all 4 quarters and not rollover like beat dog .

Similar passer ratings, 69.0 to 69.7. Similar completion percentages, 51.8 to 52.9. Similar bodies. Similar records as a starter, 17-21 to 16-18. Yeah, I'd say it's a very good comparison.

Graham was better at avoiding turnovers, by a solid margin.

Graham was a mediocre NFL mercenary who couldn't beat out Danny Kannel in NY. (!!!) At least Anderson can point to one season where he raised his level of play to a high level. Anderson was also a fantastic college QB. I think Graham transferred at least once because he couldn't handle the competition and ended up at Ohio State.

If DA is Kent Graham then Leinart is Dave Krieg. 101 dumpoff passes to the fullback in 1995.

lol it's funny I was discussing this with my dad last night and how many horrible QB's come to mind.

We've had a long and epic list of fail QB's here.

Guys like,

Hogeboom
Tom Tupa
John Navarre
Shaun King
Dave Brown
Jim McMahon
Josh Mccown..

Lol Kent Graham was the worst though. I remember when Plummer would have a bad game there were people screaming PUT GRAHAM IN and my whole section would be like uhhh, you do realize he sucks right?

I pray that DA turns out better than KG

Yeah, but Krieg had that great toss to Rod Tidwell against the Cowboys that clinched the playoff spot.
