Source: Reuters
July 22, 2005

According to Reuters, video game maker THQ Inc. has hired United Talent Agency Inc. to spearhead its effort to make a movie based on its recently released Destroy All Humans! title.

In the game, which is rated "T" (Teen 13+), players use destructive weapons and innate mental powers to take on the most feared enemy in the galaxy - Mankind! Gamers control Crypto, an alien warrior sent to Earth to clear the way for the Furon invasion force.

The player's mission is to infiltrate humanity, control them, harvest their brain stems and ultimately destroy them.

THQ said the Hollywood talent agency would guide Destroy All Humans! through its development into major motion picture and television projects. UTA will also oversee financing, production and distribution.

Visit the game's official website for more info.

Okay, I've got the demo for this game, and it's mildly entertaining, but a MOVIE? Someone out there ain't playing with a full deck.

But they didn't read cow's minds on Mars Attacks, did they? That alone puts Destroy All Humans on top.

Mars Attacks was told from the point of view of the humans--this movie looks like it will be different and be told from the point of view of the aliens. Weird.

If they want to make a video game into a movie, I have two ideas...

Grand Theft Auto. It would make a controvercial movie. Pit both main characters from the Grand Theft Auto series against each other.

Conker. The foul-mouthed squirrel is awesome, and would make a tremendous adult cartoon (ala south park).

Just some ideas.+

Destroy All Humans! to Become a TV Show
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
October 25, 2005

Fox Broadcasting Co. has acquired the rights to develop THQ's best-selling sci-fi video game Destroy All Humans! into a half-hour CGI-animated comedy by former King of the Hill writer/co-executive producer Jim Dauterive.

The Hollywood Reporter says the deal marks the first time a video game will be used as the basis for a primetime network television program. The script will be developed through 20th Century Fox TV, where Dauterive has an overall deal.

Set in the 1950s, the third-person action game puts players into the bulbous gray head of Crypto 137, an alien who has landed on Earth and is intent on destroying it. The game takes a comic approach and spoofs '50s Hollywood B-movies.
