Kylie has built an empire taking selfies and getting followers on Instagram. The reality show just gave it a kick start. Then she started selling makeup to all those followers. Social media has bred a completely new type of celebrity.

She has 112 million followers and gets $1 million per paid Instagram post. Welcome to the millennial generation.

Why should this matter to Suns fans? Devin Booker is about to become the hottest NBA player in the world and it will be about stuff off the court. He could parlay this into hundreds of millions beyond his NBA salary. And he will be a HUGE media focal point. Hopefully he will be able to keep his mind on basketball.

All the girls think he is hot. A few selfies with Kylie and he will build his own Instagram base and will parlay that into some sort of fashion business. It will be a clothing line or something. He is a marketing bonanza.
Yup, who needs the L.A. market? :)

All true but that empire is built on a sex tape make no mistake. There is no Kylie, Khloe or even Kim without her foray into porn. Of course that was before social media but the internet was still going strong.

I just worry she is going to ruin him like Kim did Kris Humphries and Khloe did Lamar & Tristan.

It all started with that. That is true.

Nba players are trophy husbands for the Kardashian clan.

I don't like anything about the Kardashian's. They are celebrities because they are outrageous.

But I have a feeling that DBook, even at his young age, has the intelligence to use their name more than they'll use him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he figured out that the way to take the next step and be an All Star is in the headlines as much as the stats.

She has a kid with a rapper. He’s not getting involved with that.

But he is involved with that already, whether she has a kid or not. Booker is a kid himself. This isn't a problem until we see it negatively effect his game. Being with a Kardashian didn't hurt Harden, Humphries, or Blake Griffin. Hopefully he doesn't end up like Lamar Odom or Tristan Thompson though. I think he's smart enough to avoid that sister. It was the same one that helped mess up those two.

Blake Griffin did get involved with Kendall Jenner while he was in another relationship and now pays 250k a month in child support.

Harden sounds like it affected him too...

He tells Sports Illustrated that 2015, the year he dated Khloé, was the "worst year" of his life.

One thing I am not worried about is Booker's focus. Guy wants to be great on the court. Celebrity comes with that no matter who you are.

One of Fishburne's daughters is an adult film actress. He and Gina Torres (Firefly and Alias actress) just divorced a few months ago but the daughter in question is from a previous marriage.

Longer look at the same run:

I think that's Pascal Siakam on their team too in the white. Not sure who the 5th is.

Lots of NBA players in that vid: Brandon Jennings, Drose, TJ warren (interesting he wasn't with Ariza and Booker), Dante Exum, Seth Curry, etc

Now if Buddy Hield could only do that in real games.

The Suns put this image out today. I remember David Robinson scoring 71 back in his glory days and this image made me think of that but Booker was still 2 1/2 years away from being born when that happened. He really is just a kid. He may be mature and seems to be taking to the leadership role but it will be a bump ride at first.

This is precisely why it bothers me when people down play that 70 point game. Are there players in the league now or that have been in the league during that stretch that are capable of dropping 70 in a game? Absolutely, but the list is pretty short and only the absolute best players in the league are on that list. Booker has proven that he is one of those very few players.

Yeah but we were down by 60 points when Booker started his scoring spree mostly against Boston's G League call-ups (according to some of the Boston fans on RealGM).

Yeah but . . . records don't show who the opponent was. The only high performance highlighted by an asterisk was Maris' 61 because more games were added to the schedule.

More important that the accomplishment (he still had to put them in the hoop) is the lore.

Booker is the player who scored 70 points in an NBA game and that sets him apart. And raises the bar higher for him than his young peers.

Which is not only an accomplishment now, but a responsibility as well. If his play becomes mediocre for any reason, he will have to take the heat more than anyone else with disappointing stats.

The pressure is on DBook. I believe that Suns fans should give him full credit and support for the challenges he will face.

Actually, that is why I have been concerned that the Suns might ruin him if he has to be both Scoring Guard and Point Guard (other than perhaps on offense during the last few minutes of close games).

If he is expected to be the solution to Knight's inability to facilitate throughout the game, that will only add to the pressure that he will already face by having scored 60 points. It could burn him out. We must not take him for granted.
