Yeah but we were down by 60 points when Booker started his scoring spree mostly against Boston's G League call-ups (according to some of the Boston fans on RealGM).
Yeah but . . . records don't show who the opponent was. The only high performance highlighted by an asterisk was Maris' 61 because more games were added to the schedule.
More important that the accomplishment (he still had to put them in the hoop) is the lore.
Booker is the player who scored 70 points in an NBA game and that sets him apart. And raises the bar higher for him than his young peers.
Which is not only an accomplishment now, but a responsibility as well. If his play becomes mediocre for any reason, he will have to take the heat more than anyone else with disappointing stats.
The pressure is on DBook. I believe that Suns fans should give him full credit and support for the challenges he will face.
Actually, that is why I have been concerned that the Suns might ruin him if he has to be both Scoring Guard and Point Guard (other than perhaps on offense during the last few minutes of close games).
If he is expected to be the solution to Knight's inability to facilitate throughout the game, that will only add to the pressure that he will already face by having scored 60 points. It could burn him out. We must not take him for granted.
