Why do you guys feel that way? They are only doing their job which is to negotiate with money hungry owners to get as much as possible for their client.

My 2 cents, the Postons cross the line because they almost ROUTINELY hold their players out which shows they are not overly concerned about the team, just the money.

I have to admit I'm quite concerned about us trying to sign Dansby for that reason I really hope the 2nd rounders don't get treated the way their big name established players do.

Yes an agent is supposed to get as much as possible but they have taken that a step further. The whole reason Orlando Pace keeps getting franchised is the Postons keep rejecting record deals because they are demanding some insanely high bonus figure. In essence they are COSTING Pace money because he never gets a bonus he just gets a 1 year franchise deal, he would get more upfront if they would just accept a reasonable bonus.

I'll give you a real world example of why I dislike the Poston's. Been trying to hire an assistant at work, my boss backpedaled from fulltime to only 20 hours a week, then starting questioning do we pay an agency or hire direct(which is more expensive due to benefits et al). So he said do whatever is cheapest. So we go through an agency quoting 25% markup, and interview 2 guys plus a 3rd HR found on their own. I like the 3rd guy but he's not available for 2 weeks, first 2 available right away, so we agree to pay a bit more markup to hire someone right away. I take the salary range and split it and we offer that, he accepts, to start Monday.

Then his agency emails me the billable salary rate, which is 9.60 an hour MORE than what the guy will be paid, ~ a 60% markup! Given my boss' demands for not spending too much, I call the agency and say too high what happened to 25%? "Oh that's if you find the candidate, if we do, that's our markup."

So I then had to tell them to call the guy back and tell him no deal, and I'm now waiting 2 weeks for the other guy. Major inconvenience to me not getting the help I need, and major inconvenience to the guy who accepted the job and lost it because of his agency's demands. We are paying the new guy 2 an hour more, and the billable rate is still 5 bucks an hour less.

Basically the agency screwed this guy to try and screw us over their rate.

My real concern now is Levar Fisher's knee, he again is not able to practice from what Jim O posted.

I know we drafted Dansby and we have some depth there but I think Fisher would REALLY fit the system DG wants to use because he was so fast. Looks like we're going to see a lot of Dansby and Hayes this year if Fisher's knee doesn't heal .

Tough break I was really looking for him to have a breakout year if healthy.

I'm not all that concerned about Levar Fisher's knee in general, but less concerned because he has Hayes right next to him (Dansby will be pushing Ray Thompson on the Weakside all season, and might have his job by November).

You won't find a bigger fan of Levar Fisher than me, but I think that the Cards'll be in good shape if they have to plug Hayes in on the Strong Side, until he takes Ronnie Mac's job next preseason (or we draft a prototype MLB in the middle of the 2005 draft).

Honestly, all this stuff before training camp is just hype (remember the "Great Tackle Push" that Calvin Pace made last year?). If Levar is able to play camp, and is getting the book work taken care of right now, I think he'll be fine if he's healthy.

This is the Jimmy Johnson approach--
It was also supposed to be Marmie's approach last year as Mac's DC. Remember how psyched we were during Camp?

Last season started out that way, but I always got the feeling that the harsh realities of watching opposing running attacks pound us on the field set in and we regressed back into our passive shell by midseason - or at least that was my impression.

First 8 games average run yards - 107.25
Last 8 games average run yards - 132.00

And the first 8 games had Lewis, alexander, green, faulk, dillon/rudi, and hearst/barlow in it.

So if what you say is true, then it just adds another positive to sticking with the 1 gap instead of the 2 gap.

Why you ask? There were reports that Pace stated in a newspaper that he never ask for a 27 million dollar signing bonus his agents were. It is a known fact that the Poston hold their players out if they do not get their way.

<mass snippage>

The thing is, the Poston brothers can't "hold their players out". Pace is 100% free to negotiate his own deal with the Rams for whatever price he feels he is worth. Not only that, but he could negotiate a deal with them, and he would forgo having to give some of it to the Postons.

Buckley did it, got sick of the Postons garbage and negotiated his own deal with the Patriots.

So if Pace is holding it out it is entirely his decision. If he thinks he has to do what the Postons tell him, that speaks as much about his knoweledge on the situation as it does the Postons greed.

I think by going to the media and stating he never asked for that much, he deflects hatred for him onto his agent while still leaving the oppotunity to get those big dollars he claims he never asked for. Otherwise, it begs the question, why didn't he just sign for what he was asking for?

It's just not that easy though. Boston tried to do it with his first deal, wound up having his sister ,a lawyer help, and the deal was voided because she's not a licensed agent.

There's a lot of bells and whistles, the average person would get screwed trying to do their own deal.

The Poston's know what they're doing they're relying on teams fearing heat from fans over holdouts.
