Escobar certainly has not had any difficulties putting bat to ball in 2018. He’s sporting a career-best .274/.338/.514 batting line with 15 home runs through 408 plate appearances. That’s a fair sight more than the switch-hitter has ever produced at the plate over a full season in the past, though Escobar has posted roughly league-average batting lines in three of the past four campaigns.

Jhoan Duran, Ernie De la Trinidad, Gabriel Maciel are going to the twins.

No one in the group being traded is really bothersome...all are quite a ways away .

Is he a free agent at the end of the year? Is this just a rental?

That means no weak hitting Owings or Merrero at the corner. Excellent!

Whether it be his last two 2nd half slumps, injuries or questionable fielding, Lamb has not been an overall help to us.

I hope somehow we can move him before next season. Even the RBI numberss he posts seem to be stat fillers rather than clutch hitting.

And I've gotta add, I have not seen strength in his facial expressions. He seems to project a "Whatever!" persona.

Should be a huge improvement over the giant hole that has been Jake Lamb.

And he plays SS as well as 3B. If Jake Lamb came back tomorrow, I could see a lefty/righty platoon with Lamb/Ahmed (Escobar moving back and forth), much as they've done a few times with Descalso/Ahmed (Marte moving back and forth). Ahmed's grand slam doesn't change his overall futility with right handed pitchers.

For what it's worth, Bert referred to him as a "rental" during the telecast.

Well he’s having a career season in a contract year. Nothing wrong with getting the best of him for two months.
And Steve said something like it makes it official that, with Pollock and Corbin becoming free agents, the D-backs are going for it this season.

I like that Steve and BB usually tell it like it is. They are homers, but they don't sugarcoat deficiencies.

Including that Descalso has been having fielding problems while covering various positions. It makes you appreciate how well Chris Owings fields in all three outfield positions, 2B, and then 3B, after he was deemed originally a marginal fielder at SS. Unfortunately, Owings bat is made of sponge.

They’re a pretty good crew. I liked Bert when he was on Sportscenter and Brenly is the best there is.

Or else what?

Oh I dunno... or else maybe I’ll start placing bamboo shoots under my fingernails because that would be less painful than what is to come in the next 3-4 years for this team? [emoji12]

Or they could have been sellers and still sucked on 3 years. No guarantees either way.

Enjoy the ride.
