Well, I thought this team would not be a winning team before the season started. So, in one sense, they did overachieve from my point of view. But, damn, the bullpen was brutal. If they were just average, we'd be in the thick of it.

The devil is always in the details.

Our closers hurt us, no doubt, but our bullpen did some great things this season too. They were incredible in extra inning games and I think they did a pretty good job in long relief too. If we can get a top notch closer and move Ziegler back to setup we should be in pretty good shape.

The Parker trade really bummed me out. I know top prospects sometimes dont pan out but it seemed like his floor was being along the lines of Cahill.

Kevin Towers talking about "blame" (the subject of this thread) is apparently now the Queen of Denial.

Responding to a report by Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal that:
Diamondbacks players are unhappy with Gibson for his constantly changing lineups.
Towers' response was that he hadn't heard of any unrest in the clubhouse. It hadn't gotten to him. He hasn't heard it.

The players aren't happy and that is his response? 'Not very convincing! Or proactive.

Apparently the only thing that convinced Fox Sports is that "Towers does not seem inclined to make a change with Gibson." It is interesting that Bob Brenly and Bob Melvin were both replaced for the very same thing -- 130+ different batting orders each season. Even our ballpark is no longer "The Bob". :D

And the mediocre .500 D'backs have sunk out of contention in the double Wild Card race.

With the September callups, it is too late now. I hope Towers is taking the players' complaint more seriously in private than to the Press. We can't take another 162-game Spring Training season and a Manager who doesn't believe in making a decision and letting it gel.

At least it is now out in the open! It has rekindled my hope that there will be a resolution.

Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal saying this makes it so?:bang:
Posting that sentence makes it not? :)

All that matters are the facts. Which we will probably find out in time.

The last line of my post about it was, "At least it is now out in the open! It has rekindled my hope that there will be a resolution."

It is out in the open. And I am still hoping for a resolution.

Instead of making one of the two Wild Card playoff spots, we are a mediocre .500 team that is very inconsistent. And by a strange coincidence, so have been our batting orders and starting lineups all season long.

I never said one way or the other. Honestly, I don't know. But if KR makes an unsubstantiated statement, I'm sorry, I do not take that as fact. He states his opinion with no facts backing it up.

I'm not sure how KR's opinion puts it "out in the open". If he states that Gibby is trying to lose by changing lineups and batting orders, would we take that as fact too and be glad it is now "out in the open"?

As far as the lineup changes and batting orders, I guess he is trying to find the right combination. If he sticks with a lineup and it doesn't work, we would nail him for that too.

Dodgers keep spending. Everyone is trying everything to try to overcome the $ difference. I believe it can be done, but it will not be easy. We will need to make changes and they may work or may backfire. We shall see.

This team has won so many late games yet we are still basically a .500 ball club. It is frustrating for all of us DBack fans.

All the "scrappy" comments meant the team really wasn't all that talented going into the season. It's not surprising the team proved it over the course of a 162 game season. The exception was Goldschmidt who was amazing, but got lost in the national eye as the team circled the drain and it was easy to avoid pitching to him.

Still, it chaps me that they butchered the bullpen so badly. Just a mediocre bullpen and we'd still have shot. That is on Towers, and that was supposed to be his strength as GM.

Butchered? JJ was expected to minimally repeat his performer from 2012. Same for Hernandez. Have you see Hernandez since he's been called up? That's the guy everyone expected we would have this season. Reynolds went down early as well and prior to his injury, he was pitching extremely well. Bell was a mistake for sure... But "butchered"?? Hardly...

When you lead the majors in blown saves, you butchered the bullpen in my estimation. If you think that was a decent bullpen.... well, there really isn't much to talk about. We are not going to agree.

When releivers don't perform to any where close to what they did the year before, not sure that is on the GM.

The bullpen, by EVERYONE's estimation, was a strength going into the season.
