The Diamondbacks are still attempting to find a taker for second baseman Aaron Hill, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports on Twitter. Arizona has indicated that it will not finalize its Opening Day roster until tomorrow, which could be due in part to efforts to move Hill.

It appears that Hill will start the season on the bench if he is not moved, as manager Skip Hale tells reporters that Chris Owings will start at second with Nick Ahmed taking over at short (via Zach Buchanan of the Arizona Republic, on Twitter). Needless to say, it appears that the club would be pleased to find a taker for some of Hill’s $12MM salary.

If they can move him, it will be nice to see the kids get a chance to play everyday.

The top three contracts on the D'backs are Hill, Arroyo, and Ross. Extremely little bang for the buck.

D'Backs will have to kick in a serious chunk of cash to get rid of him. Unlike Cahill's expiring contract, Hill is on the books for 2 more years at $12M a pop.

Ross is slated to be a really expensive 4th OF. If ARZ can get rid of him as well, Kendrick and the other owners can put even more money in their piggy banks.

That Ross signing still makes my head hurt.

They had a ton of outfielders, they sign a guy who is older than any of them, who is worse than any of them, giving him more money than any of them, and their main logic behind it was that he was a "proven winner"... based on his two months at the end of a season platooning for a team that won the WS, and ignoring that every single season of his career he had played for losers.

They did "skip" Hale. Until this season. 'Better late than never. What an improvement he is over Kirk "The Mumbler" Gibson.

Skip - short for Skipper. ;)

Is anybody even interested in Hill?

Probably more interest in Hill than Ross that is why he's still on the roster. Any trade negotiations are going to center on how much money ARZ is willing to send back.

So Ross is going to make $10.5M for sitting at home and more if some team is willing to sign him......wowzers!

Maybe he'll join a softball team. :)

Did Ross get picked up by the Cubs and is playing now? Got a hit against the Cardinals?

OK, I wasn't sure. Only saw a couple innings of the game. Kinda looked like him, to me, and I saw the name on the back of the uni.[emoji16]
