I really don't understand why Byrnes won't go on the DL. He is not only hurting himself, but the team. A healthy Byrnes hitting 270 is much better than an injured 214 hitter. Does his contract have a lot of incentive clauses?

if he does he has a better chance making them if he goes on the DL and gets healthy. unless its games played.

that being said, sutton was saying during the game that chipper jones likes the keep his injuries secret. Byrnes either needs to do that and stop using it as an exuse when he goes 0 fer, or go on the DL.

OK, this is the BoMel I know and detest: I have an idea! rather than sit a novice third-baseman who has a seriously iced-over bat, let's sit the guy whose bat was just starting to heat up again so one of my favorites, gimpy Chad Tracy, can start!
"Yes, he’s in the lineup. At first base. Now, before all our Conor Jackson defenders start blasting away at Bob Melvin, hear me out. Melvin said he wanted to get Jackson a day off. Melvin wasn’t specific -- wouldn’t set anything in stone -- about how he’s going to handle the Tracy/Jackson/Mark Reynolds situation, but from reading between the lines it sounded to me like Tracy is going to have a much better chance getting into the lineup at third base than at first."

Buah. Bad offensive road trip and we are back to the manager sucks thing. What a surprise. Last time I looked, yesterday, not many teams have good road records.

Hey, what about Webb's lousy outing? Wouldn't a good manager have avoided that?

It sucks getting swept by the Marlins, but getting a split in Atlanta (the Braves were 20-5 at home before the series started) is a good result.
