Montero is currently sporting a 619 OPS. His bat has costs us wins this year. It's fine to root for him, but lets stop trying to polish that turd. Ok?

April and May he sucked. No need to polish anything. Since end of May, his bat is coming around.

Criminy - people bitched when he was sucking, now that he has been better (over .360) people still complaining.

Over .360 for how many PAs again? He's hitting a rather empty .304 for less than a month after being one if the worst hitters in MLB over the past few months and making $10M. You're too lenient for some reason on this particular player.

All Jon said was Miggy is coming around and then people think he's trying to polish a turd?

What Jon said was the truth... He is coming around (based on his stats from late May until now).

Hopefully Miggy can keep it going because we need some other offense other than Goldy and Parra.

Are you accusing me of lying? If not then what is your reasoning for taking a side? I say celebrating a 768 OPS in June from our $10M man is setting up some low expectations personally.

Accusing you of lying? Huh? You're jumping on Jon for him saying that Miggy is coming around. He wasn't celebrating anything. We all know Miggy sucked this year.

Goldy is the most consistent, yes. Miggy is finally coming around - 13-36 last ten games

Nice to see... though, he has a very long road ahead of him to dig himself out of the massive crater he placed himself in to start the season.
And over the past 10 games where he's collected those 13 hits in 36 at-bats, how many RBI has he put up? What is his average with RISP?

Don't get me wrong - I really like Miggy and I'm as bummed as anyone to see him perform the way he's been performing... particularly after he got PAID!
However, I'm just calling it as I see it... He's been a massive disappointment, arguably the biggest disappointment on the team. And it will take a lot more than a 13 for 36 ride to dig himself out of the hole he's in...
But ya gotta start somewhere so yea - let's hope this is just the beginning of a sustained, rest-of-the-season march toward his more normal numbers!

Let's not forget Parra..... He doesn't exactly suck.

Ugh!!! Cahill on the mound tonight... Hopefully we can score a lot of runs for a change....

One more RBI than Upton in same stretch ;)

Sure they did... However, Goldy IS the offense for this team, period... Yes yes... Prado finally hit a home run - his first since April. And Montero is showing some signs of moving in the right direction... But they are both significantly below their career averages and have simply sucked for most of the year.
Goldy's avg with RISP is by far the best on the team and this was his second walk-off dinger this year. He is our offense night in and night out. Only Parra comes close to matching Goldy's consistency at the plate...

Let's not forget Parra..... He doesn't exactly suck.

Ugh!!! Cahill on the mound tonight... Hopefully we can score a lot of runs for a change....

See bold above... ;)

Oh man... you really have set the bar low haven't you!! :p

Seriously. Are we to the point that we praise a guy having a better month than on having the worst month of his entire career? After all am I not paying Monteros salary and he's not earning his money despite what Jon wants to be. :(

Well my "truth"didn't match Jon's so I was assuming you we're saying I was lying. We all know Miggy sucked this year but no thread dedicated to his disappointment. Like I said, low expectations from this fan base for him.

Awesome!

Looks like Gibby got the best of that reliever/pinch-hitter shuffle.

Today's game gives a great example of why Wins and Saves can be misleading stats.

Heath Bell gets the save, even though he gave up one run and allowed the tying run to reach base.

David Hernandez gets the win, even though Collmenter was the one deserving.
