You call this impressive?

You over value average, under value runs, etc. Diamondback young guys are FAR FAR superior to the low ceiling players the Dodgers are trotting out.

Sheesh. Take off your rose-colored glasses. I'm not going to comment on the Dback rookies because I know very little about them. I do know that the Dodgers, Dbacks and Angels are often considered to have the top 3 farm systems in baseball so I'm sure you have a lot to be excited about.

However, for you to call the Dodgers rookies low-ceiling shows you know absolutely nothing about them. Out of all the rookies, Ethier clearly has the lowest ceiling, but Martin, Kemp and Loney have HUGE ceilings. If you can't see that you're either blinded by your homerism or have never seen them play. Martin is already the best catcher in the national league. Loney is a gold-glove caliber first baseman and one of the best pure hitters I've seen in a long time. He's starting to develop his power stroke as well. Kemp is a little more raw, but has all the tools. He has a very strong arm, excellent speed, excellent power potential and he has proven now that he can hit the off-speed stuff at the major league level.

Again, I'm not going to comment on the Dback players because I haven't seen much of them. I do know they are very highly-regarded and I'm certainly not going to make ridiculous claims saying they have "low ceilings" just to make the Dodger rookies look better. Their performances speak for themselves.

Good luck with the rest of the season. It's gonna be a tight one. :)

Those of us who hang out at fall League were very taken with James Loney, and although I wasn't that wild about Russ Martin, he was definitely a top prospect, and he is not to be sniffed at disparagingly. The guy I liked best of all was Jason Repko, actually.

There are certain people who only see the half-empty glass in the other fellow's yard. Several people here just dislike Conor Jackson, despite his terrific plate discipline -- hitting him in clean-up where he doesn't belong is not his fault. People here IMO markedly underrate Carlos Quentin, who -- if he can get healthy -- is a top RF prospect -- alas, still just a prospect due to the shoulder.

Personally, I think Drew is a bit overrated, but he is for some reason cut a great deal of slack here -- maybe the price tag impresses people, because his offensive numbers don't come near Conor Jackson's, and so far he's just an average SS. Young is very impressive, and seems to be improving steadily, but he is also somewhat teflonized here.

Zenny, speaking for myself, I don't "dislike" Conor Jackson. He shows signs of being a sold hitter.

What I dislike is the lackadaisical attitude he shows in the field. And the results of it. A decent play now and then. But carelessness too many times.

Whether a person is earning $40,000 per year or millions, I expect to see a careful attitude. Especially with his financial success depending on direct revenue (which is produced by fans like us) or TV revenue (indirect).

True, there is no position for which he will be more than adequate (except for DH in that other league), but that's because of his carelessness. That's what I dislike.

Conor has the tools to be successful. Its just him taking command. He needs to be a bit more aggressive. I think he can do better than what he's showing us. But yeah, he does kind of have that lackadaisical attitude on the field, although I don't think he is a lackadaisical person.
