Diana is one of my favorite players, men or women, ever. Of all the stats listed above, the one that shocks me is ONLY 122 technical fouls? I would have guessed 5X that amount! LOL! I have never seen anyone try so hard to win games, even in blow outs as Diana. She would still be elbowing and yelling at opposing players to the end. Even heard on TV one time telling a referee she would be waiting for him after the game in the parking lot! LOL! Talent + Fire = Diana
So, was she injured for several seasons or is that just how short the WNBA seasons are? Using the posted numbers, she played 20 years and has 15.5 wins a year out of a possible 28.25 games she played each year?

The season varied in length over twenty years. Mercury did have some stinker seasons in there, too.
I think she broke her leg if I remember right, and missed a bunch of a season.

Well, the WNBA is propped up by the NBA or it wouldn't even exist. The league LOST $40 million in 2024 even with Caitlin Clark and all of that hype. They play a fraction of the games with nearly a third of the teams, of course your players are going to make a ton less. It's not rocket science.

True, but everyone I have taken to game game loves it. The problem they have is getting people with preconceived notions about the WNBA to go to that first game. I support women sports in general having gone to college and known female athletes and know the work they put into their craft.
Sounds like a damn good salary over 6 figures. Especially for a league that operates well into the red?? Also, from what I can tell basically a 7 month long off season... OOOF! Was making a 1/4 mill a year at retirement.

They were like the Suns. You knew they weren't making a run. Kahleah Copper couldn't carry the team by herself. Now she has two younger more athletic teammates. I would have still liked Diana on the team. BG was good but inconsistent. I feel the Mercury starting the rebuild sooner than the Suns.
So last year, we were a playoff team, not a contender. So this year, you think we are a contender? Just asking.....I wish we could have kept Natasha.

Without seeing this trio playing together, my gut is we may still be some more athletic players away for a true contender. I could see if these three play well this season, a playoff series win could be in the cards. GM U'ren seems to have seen what we all have. We need more athleticism. The women's game has changed.
