Well, TBS made their big debut last night.......too bad they hired one of the worst announcers in sports. Dick constantly mis-pronounced last names and created false information.....(Jason kendall came over to the cubs in the micheal barrett trade........Ummm, no dick, he didn't)

The man is brutal and I can't stand it when I hear that ponificating voice during cards games.

I thought it was funny when he said Julio Jorge split time with Valverde last year.

Brandon Webb throws a breaking ball for a strike.

Uh, Dick, all of Webb's pitches break.

What?
And that's a ball inside.

Even if it was the opposite side of the plate from the batter.

They interviewed him on 620 sports and he said Webb was the defending AL Cy Young Winner.

Guy doesn't even know what league games he is calling!

In his defense, he announces NBA and NFL, which he is very good at. :)

That was funny.

In his defense, and the defense of all national announcers, it has to be someone intimidating to announce for a team that receives nearly ZERO national attention. Image if they asked you to breakdown the lineup of the the Barcelona Soccer team... those fans would hate you in about 30 seconds. If you are a team from Arizona, then you might as well play soccer in Spain.

For decades, Dick Stockton has sounded like he's auditioning for an announcing job (while announcing), and you can't help but say, "He's just not gonna make it."

I used to hate listening to him doing NBA games. Devoid of personality.

I don't know which he's worse at -- the fast pace of a basketball game or nine innings of a baseball game.

In Game 1 of the D'backs-Cubs game, I counted four bits of information he botched.

When Davis bunted, Stockton yelled "Lee!" The bunt was towards third.

Was I supposed to get excited about the totally irrelevant Cal Ripken trivia question?

So I am not sure why Stockton keeps explaining the "if necessary" thing. I am like WHAT is he saying that again for, sheesh. "If necessary?"

Yesterday Stockton said Byrnes was the only starter on the Diamondbacks with playoff experience, wrong! Tony Clark played for the 2004 Yankees.
