What, if anything, ever happened with Cam Cameron? I wonder if the Cardinals felt that he wouldn't be available for too long and decided to pull the trigger to start working toward next year? Would they have made the same move if they knew SD would be out of the playoffs this quickly?

Cam did not have a good reputation at Indiana.

Another case of good OC bad HC.

I can't say that SD had better coacing than NE.

SD should have won that game with a big margin. No, I can't say the coaching impressed me. SD acted like a very undisciplined team.

I didn't want Cameron before yesterday's game, so I sure as heck don't want him now.

When Marty gets canned this week Cameron will probably get the SD job.

Cam Cameron should be on the next plane to Miami. He's got a very good shot at being named their next HC, if he interviews well. Now that Miami sealed up a long-term extention for DC Dom Capers, they will look for the best offensive HC they can find. Cameron fits the bill.

He called a good game yesterday...his players botched up the game plan with horrible drops and fumbles.

To the contrary, they struck when the fire was hot.

For whatever reason, the Steelers "blinked" on Whisenhunt (which had to make him a bit antsy about whether, if he waited too long, he'd be hired by anyone). The Cardinals jumped in and pulled the trigger.

We don't know the back room details, but there's some MJ rumor/innuendo that Whisenhunt was orginally a little reticent about coming here in comparison to a possible Steeler gig but that his agent made him take a more realistic look at the Steeler situation. Once Ken bought into coming to the Cardinals, he became more and more enthusiastic (AND prepared for his second interview).

I'm guessing that the Cardinals rated Whisenhunt higher than Cameron, but was afraid to put their eggs in one basket and risk winding up with nothing should Ken accept a Steeler deal.

Once Whisenhunt expressed enthusiasm about coming to the Valley, there was no longer any reason for the Cardinals to consider Cameron.

Will the skepticism ever end? This was a good hire based on the potential candidates...the HIRE is not the issue, the skepticism should be left for the follow-up, free-agency and the draft...remember RG is "in charge" of all football operations. WHIZ is the real deal!

I think that both Whis and Cam are very good choices...and pretty much offer teams similar qualities. That being said, I think Whis is a stronger candidate than Cam...Whis has a Super Bowl ring and thus has had more success in big games...and has exerted himself as a real motivator.

i am fully on board with this choice....the ranters and ravers are not necessarily the answer....let's see what he does with the assistants...you can be sure he knows what he has to spend and who he wants

The more I read about Whisenhunt the more I think the Cardinals made a good choice.

Ryan was a nut case. KW seems to be well grounded.
Tobin was beige. KW seems to be anything but beige.
McGinnis had a horrible record as DC. KW has a good record as OC.
Green was semi-retired. KW is said to be a tireless worker.

I didn't dislike Cameron. I just don't know how much the success of the offense was his versus having a superstar like Thomlinson.

I'm not criticizing the Cardinals' choice I'm just curious about the timing. It seems to me that having a choice might've been a good thing if they were actually interested in Cameron. Both he and Whiz seem to offer the same potential so I just wondered if they had waited one more day if that would have effected their decision.

iT will funny if both Cameron and Schottenheimer interview for the Miami job. Too bad Marty's kid dropped out of it.Then it would be real interesting.

Good question moklerman. I also can't help wondering if either Cameron or Schottenheimer would be seriously interested in coming to AZ. I don't want to sound like a Bidwill basher but the old man does have a reputation around the league as an owner that a coach would not like working for. Coaches talk to each other and his bad reputation is well deserved.

if they liked cameron better they would have rolled the dice and waited for the game to be over to see if they could talk to him asap....obviously they liked ken more....and if what i read is true vis a vis an answer on the spot was requested then i will bet he got a whole lot of what he wanted in terms of hiring and firing and the budget needed for the next round of ac's...otherwise he would have walked.
