I wanted to post this before I read anything here about the game. I was just so impressed with the gourmet meal Rallis prepared with bargain bin ingredients. Magnificently coordinated defense. Gives me hope in part of the coaching staff.
I like the fact that we didn’t sell our soul to the devil blitzing on every down. I thought he did a great job mixing in the blitz. It actually allowed us to get pressure with just 4 guys a few times.

This whole 'third choice' thing is almost as silly as Bird City...seriously.
Yeah it's just stupid.

We heard second hand that the Bears assistant GM, who didn't get a GM job, spurned the Cardinals after Ossenfort was given the job. That could literally have been something his agent put out to make his client not look as bad. The Bears will likely be a total dumpster fire and he might not get another look. The jokes on him.

Defense definitively impressed yesterday. Im hoping they’re able to back that performance up against the Giants this week.
All I ask is they continue to play hard. I loved watching the DBs close hard on the ball. That's what Gannon taught his DBs to do with the Eagles.

It's also crazy how much better Zaven looked at OLB...

He played well. Not really much there in the pass rush department yet. He had one where he got a holding call where he probably would have got a sack without it, but that was the only one stood out. He's good at the other stuff though. Setting the Edge, dropping into coverage etc.

This group as a whole are much better at containing the RB. Robinson had one run of note outside the tackles for about 6. Otherwise really kept him where the bodies were to stop him.

To be fair it was against a terrible OL with a second year QB who had a single start under his belt. The defense exceeded my expectations in week one. However I still have major concerns about how this defense will look against a good offense. Plus depth is still a major concern.

With that said I’m happy to see the physical play of this defense and that our young DC didn’t look in over his head in week one.

FWIW, I didn't really have any opinion of Rallis, until the Flight Plan episode that focused on the coaches. He came across as a guy who will be another young HC in the NFL fairly soon, to me. You can tell he's laser focused on his job and has a charismatic energy to go along with it. Petzing, on the other hand, seems more like the Norv Turner type to me...He may end up being a pretty good OC, but probably won't have much success as a HC and will just accept his OC fate at some point...nothing wrong with that at all. Just my observations.

The linebackers looked so much better this year than last 4 years. Getting rid of Billy Davis made a huge impact. I swear he taught the LB'ers to run into the OL and take themselves out of the play. It's nice to see some real defensive coaching.
It's nice to see linebackers making tackles instead of just watching ball carriers juke by.

Billy Davis was one of the staff members Gannon retained . Lucky for us LBs are Rallis’s specialty and his influence is obvious.

I like the OLB by committee we have going on. We rostered so many OLB and all of them were making their presence felt.

EDIT: I'm wrong, we did let Davis go.

Yeah. They hit hard too. They played physical, created turnovers and even scored. Can’t ask much more if them

Much closer to what he did in college (IMO).
To be fair on the INT he was standing in a place where there were literally no Washington players. I'm not sure how many defenses require you to stand as far away from the opponents as physically possible from where you started.

Good on him to get the pick tho.

It was great watching our hard hitting defense. It reminded me of the niner's hits on us. Why did we not hit like that under our prior defensive coaches? Were they not encouraged to? Do they have to be coached to hit hard? I like it.
