Somebody help me. Mathews chases Wilson down for a huge loss. The play is over and an O-lineman comes over and blast Mathews while he's on the ground.

SO why wasn't the ball rules down and an additional 15 yds marked off for a personal foul?

Even Aikman said after the penalty was declined he stated the Olineman got a free shot.

Can anybody explain? AT that point it turned out to be 2nd and 31 when I think it should have been 2nd and 46.

Yes they got screwed but since they screwed themselves over so many times I don't see where one more by the refs matters.

I disagree. The Seahawks ended up getting a 1st down after being 2nd and 32. I know, shame on the PAckers D, but there's a big difference between 2nd and 31 and 2nd and 46.

That's how the NFL works in that situation - for SOME idiotic reason, it's not considered a "dead ball" foul, with the penalty being assessed after the down has advanced. College does it right, the NFL is brain-dead. Again.

Side question, when does the clock start on kickoffs, when the ball is kicked, or touched? The onside kick started at 2:09, and ended at 2:07. Even if it starts on the touch I have a hard time believing all that happened in 2 seconds, but if it starts on the kick, there's no way.

IMportant because Seattle got 2 plays before the 2 minute warning.

I think the clock has to start when the ball is kicked because it become a live ball at that point. However, I am not an expert on such rules.

The clock starts when it is touched beyond ten yards.

Amazing that the missed catch went right into the arms of the Seahawks' player. It happened so bang-bang. Heard that Brandon Bostock was supposed to block on the play, but when he saw it coming at him he went after it. The coaches must be livid.

No they choked. They still let em off the hook 2nd and 31 and you still let em go ahead

Pack shot themselves in the foot, not catching the onside kick, and not intercepting that 2 point conversion, that ball was in the air forever, no excuse letting that get caught.

How about taking a knee after the pick with 5 minutes to go. What was that guy thinking? He had the entire sideline and only a couple lineman over there. He probably could have returned that to field goal range on his own.

I agree. That was beyond stupid. If he runs it down to even FG range, game over. GB definitely was playing not to lose.

The Packers blew this game on their second and third drives of the game when they couldn't convert TDs inside the Seattle 10. They score TDs on those drive and this game is over at halftime. Instead of 16 they have 24 at the half.

I also agree that the penalty should have been tacked on to the sack. The defensive call on the next play was awful. They rushed 2 guys and kept a spy on Wilson. Wilson could of had a coffee and then thrown the ball he had so much time.

My question. On the last pick by the Packers, why did the Packer (?) interceptor go down voluntarily with plenty of open field and 6 minutes left on the clock. Looks as if he could have gotten within FG range, but instead Pack ran 3 plays to take time off of clock. Someone was a bit premature.

I think the refs ruled that the penalty occurred before the play was over.

If that was the case then poor call by the refs. Both Wilson and the Green Bay defender were already down on the ground rendering the play over, then the Seattle player came in and hit the Green Bay player which should have made it a dead ball foul and an extra 15 yds tacked onto the end of the play.

Packers screwed themselves. They allowed one of the biggest comebacks in NFL playoff history. Any perceived bad calls didn't help but bottom line is they had plenty of opportunities to stick their foot on the jugular and didn't get it done.

How about the unsportsmanlike conduct that wasn't called on Lynch for grabbing his unit after the TD run? That would have made that the 2 pt conversion a 17 yard attempt instead of a 2 yard attempt. Or if it was enforced on the kick off that would have given GB better field position to go for the game winning TD. But still, GB totally lost it on their own. Sounds stupid but Seattle didn't win it, GB lost it....

Hard to say the Packers for "screwed", when:

- 4th and goal on the 1/2 yard line and they kick a FG instead of punching it on...

- They give up a 2 point conversion on the biggest joke of a Hail Mary I have ever seen...

- A guy grabs an INT and then immediately drops to the ground when he had nothing but daylight in front of him...

- They totally muff the on-side kick...

The game was handed to the Packers in a manner they will never see again from the Hags. And they simply choked in several key moments of the game (see above).
So now, they didn't get screwed... unless they are looking in the mirror and uttering those words... ;)

I think dallas was that close but the result speaks for itself. Sure it was a long time ago but not many other teams in the league physically matched and at times pushed seattles defense around like dallas did. And Dallas was close to beating Green Bay at lambeau just as new England was. To me Dallas was a team that could push any of these teams to the limit they just needed a little more on the defensive front.
