Before Arians was hired here, Ray Horton's name was bandied about for several HC jobs including here and Philly but since then I've never heard his name mentioned. Did he burn bridges 2 years ago? Or is he so connected to Whiz's hip that he doesn't want a HC job?

Has he had a dominant defense since he left here? You kinda need that to be mentioned when your calling card is the D.

his D hasnt been as good since he left so he is not getting the same consideration. If he finished as a top 5 D, he would be a hot commodity again.

I have heard his personality has turned teams off when interviewed. Not sure what that means to be honest.

The Card players really like and respect Bowles. I'm not sure if they felt that way about Horton.

I remember when Ray left and many bemoaned the hiring of Todd Bowles, since he was coming from Philadelphia and their 'D' was bad. So I think I'll trust BASK to make the call on a new defensive coordinator.

I'd have to look it up to be sure, but my memory is that the Browns defense overachieved when he was there, and then the Titans just didn't have enough ball players out there last year on either side of the ball.

Throwing a tantrum through the media after he was passed over probably has a lot to do with him getting no attention, along with the fact that his defenses since leaving AZ haven't been as dominant.

The coordinators that get talked about for head coaching positions will almost exclusively come from playoff teams. Horton isn't going to be getting any attention because his teams haven't been in the playoffs.

I could also have to do with the fact that the Titans defense was easily one of the worst in football this past year in basically every statistical measure.

Because he acted like a spoiled brat when he didn't get the Cards job. That probably set him back a solid 5yrs (or more) from getting a HC interview. Assuming he can turn the Titans D around anytime soon.

Considering Horton was getting attention coming off of a year when the team went 5-11 this theory doesn't make much sense. Not saying you're wrong per se but after that dismal season(losing 11 of 12) he got a lot of looks from here and KC and for 2014 he was interviewed at Minnesota. Now his name isn't being mentioned at all. Guess the bloom is off the rose.

The defense was STOUT though, we lost because our offense was so bad.

His defenses since leaving here have not been quite as stout.

I'm not talking about just Horton. In general, the coordinators that get talked about the most as head coaching candidates almost always come from playoff teams.
