I saw that Mike Tyson was arrested on cocaine charges in Buckeye, Arizona. I'm thinking maybe they re-named Glendale to Buckeye since Ohio State is out there every year for their bowl game. Either that or he was at David Boston's house :D .

Buckeye is a town a little southeast of Glendale.

Actually Buckeye is southwest of Glendale. About 40 miles west of Sky Harbor Airport.

Fun to drive out there on the weekends, good golf course at Verrado, and watch the locals drive 100+ MPH in the "open to all cars" HOV lane on I-10.

Town welcomes Buckeyes

Ohio State's shot at the Bowl Championship Series national title means that one southwest Valley town will roll out its welcome mat again.

Buckeye, some of whose earliest settlers hailed from the Buckeye State, plans to host a celebration the Saturday before the big game to welcome fans from Ohio State, which has played in three of the past four Fiesta Bowls.

When hundreds of OSU fans head into town for Buckeyes Day in Buckeye, they can expect scarlet and gray university flags flying at government and business centers, enjoy food at a street festival, and receive a free T-shirt from Councilman Levi Beard that reads, "Buckeye AZ welcomes Ohio State Buckeyes."

All they'll need is an Ohio driver's license.

Doug MacKenzie, spokesman for the Greater Phoenix Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the Valley of the Sun should see an influx of out-of-state visitors this bowl season because many of the participating universities are in chilly climates.

"The more teams from the northern latitudes and Midwest definitely increases our numbers for the bowl games," MacKenzie said, referring to teams from snow-heavy states such as Ohio, Idaho and Minnesota.

"Fans definitely want to leave their parkas behind and enjoy the weather," he added.

One of them is Scott Martin, a Boise State Broncos fan. He and a friend will fly to the Valley from Roanoke, Va., for what will be his alma mater's first appearance in a BCS bowl game.

"For us, it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience," said Martin, 33, who bought a $600 vacation package online that includes airfare, a rental car and three nights' lodging at a Phoenix resort.

"When I graduated from school, I never thought we'd straight up talk about playing Oklahoma in a BCS game. It's like a fantasy world."

Just for clarification, he was arrested by Buckeye Police in Scottsdale. They were part of a holiday task force. No way does Tyson party in Buckeye, I don't think Coke is very popular out there.

Buckeye is probably more of a meth town.

Buckeye has improved recently. It used to be a real crap hole. It has been elevated from crap hole to corn hole.
