Guys,

Can someone help me understand this. Here's what happened...

- Early in the 4th quarter the Cards were called for holding on Duece Lutui.
- The game clock stopped at 13:30.
- Teams re-huddle and the Ref blows whistle to start clock and clock starts counting down from 13:30
- All the sudden, Warner see he's running out of time at the line of scrimmage and calls a time-out at 13:05

HUH??? - that's only 25 seconds that went off the clock from when the ref started it up by blowiong his whistle after the penalty. The announcer said there were only 2 seconds left when Warner called the time-out. The math doesn't equate.

I ask this because I've heard Coach Whiz comment once or twice about how on the sideline they feel like they are on pace and in tempo with the clock, but all of the sudden they look up and are running out of time and are forced to call a time-out. I've also witnessed Warner pleading with the officials a few times this year pointing at the clock.

What's happening here??? Are we getting squeezed???

You only have 25 seconds after an official stoppage, like the holding penalty which stopped the clock.

So once the whistle blows and that arm swings around like a softball windup, you've got 25 seconds to go.

Time between plays will be 40 seconds from the end of a given play until the snap of the ball for the next play, or a 25-second interval after certain administrative stoppages and game delays.
