Source: Deal also includes Greene to #Tigers, Ray to #DBacks and another minor leaguer going from DET to AZ.

To clarify: Trade agreement is in place between the #Yankees, #DBacks and #Tigers. Medical information still being exchanged. Not yet final.

Sad to see Didi go. I liked him but, get infield was crowded. Don't know much about Ray other than he's a young lefty.

Ray was the #5 prospect for the Nationals and #97 out of 100 for MLB overall in 2013.

He is a lefty reliever who was dominant in High A and AA. He was decent at AAA. His basic pitching metrics mirror his AAA performance in his short stint in the majors last year. His ERA of 8.13 came in only 15.1 innings pitched.

He isn't arbitration eligible until 2018. No free agent until 2021.

Basically, they are trying to get a cheap lefty reliever who has displayed a good k/9 through most of his young career on the cheap.

Won't know if it pays off but it looks fair for Didi right now.

Hard to tell whether this is a good deal for the Diamondbacks. The key is Domingo Leyba. Sources say he did fairly well before the AZ Fall League, but then purportedly only batted .171 with the Glendale Desert Dogs.

Only 19 years old and supposedly very good bat speed and up side

I'm ok with this... DiDi provided minimal to no value for the Dbacks...

And man are the Yankee faithful pissed about the deal!! They see Didi as "all glove, no bat"... which is true of course... :D

It's going to be rough for Didi to be the guy who follows Derek Jeter as the Yankee starting SS.

I hope they give Ray a chance in the rotation. He is only 23 and has been groomed to be a starter. He had six starts last year for the Tigers and maybe just needed some seasoning to learn how to get MLB hitters out.

Robbie Ray looks like a hard throwing lefty reliever... which means he will probably have a long career that involves him oscillating between striking guys out on 3 pitches and then getting tattooed by the next hitter. The other dude is 19, good numbers so far but he is only in A ball.

Its fair value for Didi, who has played enough at the big league level that you can assume he is going to need a great hitting coach or some juice in order to be a bat worth using on a daily basis. If he could just get his average up to .270, then his walk rate is already good enough that he would be a solid hitter... but I think his BA is more likely to drop 2-4% than it is to increase that much.

Makes the Bauer trade sting even more, but the current regime has a lot of mess to clean up.

He'll show flash in the field and, as mentioned, no hit. He will be a buffer following Derek at SS, so a stronger candidate can start fresh the following season.

Too bad ARod isn't in a position to be that buffer, just as Manny Sanguillen (Roberto Clemente's best friend on the Pirates) was when he moved from C to RF for a season after Clemente died.

It is still a plus for Didi, who would otherwise be a very marginal player except for his flashiness at SS. He wasn't a solid fielder with us, he was flashy.

At least now, Chris Owings won't have Didi hanging over his head at SS. I was not happy when Owings was not handed the SS job back to him when he came off injury. Then again, with the exception of Goldy, to whom did Gibson ever show a commitment?

You are dead on! Would hate to follow Jeter. Especially in NY

Greene may become the Tigers version of Dellin Betances or Andrew Miller.

I mean the Tiger can dream right?
