Somebody posted earlier they have to work during the draft. Ugh.

I will be visiting and going to late lunch/early diner with two sisters and their families from out of town. Not complaining, I'm looking forward to spending time with them.

Bad timing, saved by technology.

Unless your DTV dvr, is as big of pos as my last 4.

I refuse to trust it with anything important.
Anyone else have problems with the DTV hr20 and or 21?

I'm doing something someone else here suggested - watching NFLN, recording ESPN's coverage to DVR along with NASCAR Nationwide (this part is my own doing). Later on, I'll speed through ESPN's recording for the Cards stuff, then watch the NASCAR race. I *love* the DVR. :)

... saved by technology.

Are the DirecTV HD recorders standard now? I have DirecTV but I have been waiting for their receiver/ recorders to be all HD before I invest in a HD TV.

Also I'm behind on the technology curve and I am especially confused if Blu Ray (?) relates to the above.

I just recently switched from Dish to DirecTV, and NO, the HD model is not standard. I imagine it will be quite a while before that happens. The new requirements (going into effect early next year) that TV signals be digital doesn't imply HD, so it could take some time.

I'm debating building my own DVR. Not expensive, and it's all mine.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll probably wait until January of next year to see if anything shakes out. My receiver is a dinosaur.

I don't know but mine works very well. I've had up to 30 hours of high definition recording on it and not had a problem.

BTW, I forgot to address this part of your question. Blu Ray is one of the new DVD (not DVR) formats. The other is HD-DVD. These are essentially high definition DVD's, and if you have a HiDef TV, you'll notice the difference (if not, don't bother). It looks like Blu Ray has won the battle, like VHS over Betamax.

They're still pretty expensive. Unless you have a lot of disposable income, wait another year and let the manufacturers start competing and bring the price down.
