As an out of Arizona fan, I'm either going to the bar or watching Sunday Ticket. Being able to DVR the games is a huge plus for me. Now that I've got an HDTV finally, I'm looking a huge extra cost to add superfan too.

I'm kind of stuck. Sucks.

Same for me. So its either $4 a beer or $6 a six pack. Ill pay directv and stay home easily saving enough money to pay for the Sunday ticket every year.

Plus getting the added bonus of watching the last few minutes of a lot of exciting games around the league every season.

I dropped Sunday Ticket also, as they priced me out of the market. I figure the Card games will be on local TV, hopefully in HD, and the NFL Channel will allow me to watch other games during the week. I may also switch over to COX in the future if it saves me some money.

Wow its amazing, people used to switch to directv because it was both cheaper and better quality, and now it seems that the money issue isn't in Dtv's favor anymore. I'm not going to drop directv anytime soon, but they better hope they keep their exclusivity with the NFL.

I hope they don't, because while I'd keep Directv even if they lost the NFL, there needs to be some competition in the market to keep prices down. This is getting ridiculous. I don't think all these people canceling will have an effect either for a while, because directv needs to recoup the money they spent on this contract.

Fios is in my area in one month. I am just hoping that comcast can wrestle some rights away from Directv.

Then its over.

FIOS is awesome, The DVR they have is light years better than DTV's pile of shiat.

I hate that I still have DTV and their ugly ass dish on my house, just for Sunday Ticket, but I don't see them losing exclusive rights to it any time soon, So until then.. I have both Fios and DTV. :/

Thank God for the sunday ticket. I would never want to go back to the days where I had to wait to see the score pop up every 15 minutes or go to a bar and hope they would turn on the Cards game for me....of course without sound so the rest of the bar can watch the Bears or north divison team.

You guys that drop the Sunday Ticket are insane if you live out of AZ. Its still only 270.00 for the whole season which works out to 16.88 per game to see the Cards play every single Sunday? Then you get to watch any game you want suring the bye as well and not limited to regional viewing.

If you ask me that is an incredible value! Even if I subtract the 4 in person games I attend every year it avergaes out to 22 bucks a week. I dunno about you but for me that is worth every stinking penny to watch my boys play.

Directv is no different than anyone else. Operating costs go up from year to year and the cost of their product is going to go up too. I guarantee and will take any and all betters right now that if Directv loses their exlusivity to the Sunday ticket that the first season afterward that it is available on cable also the price will be the same or more then it was the year prior when it was just Directv.

I agree with this for anyone, even in Az, if you don't have season tickets. Some blackouts may be looming for locals. $270 to see all 16 games is a good deal.

In my case, it was $270 on top of the basic package charge, for viewing maybe 4 or 5 non-Cards games, without the additional kick of high speed internet provided by local cable.

It's a different no-brainer, depending on your situation.

I still think DirecTV blew it with an extra high def charge for high def games on top of an extra high def charge for basic high def service. Buying the NFL package doesn't get you the high def games even if you already have the HD box and service. They make you buy that cute little add-on (forget the name) split screen, fantasy oriented extra stations stuff to get the HD games.

Yep Skkorp.. Its called Super Fan, and its Super Lame to be charged for HD games when you already paid for a HD reciever, and a regular HD package.

I hate being charged for stuff that should just be part of the big picture (pun mostly not intended).

Its like Gallagher said when buying tires..

Q: "You want those mounted?"
A: "Nah, I'll just eat em here"

Q: You want those balanced as well?"
A: Aww hell no.. I love going down the road, bam bam bam bam!"

i think superfan is up to like $115 this year - so to get games in HD that is $385 to get the game in HD

preseason is on NFLN so scratch those out

I watch one in person, so we're down to 15 - the AZ @ Sea game is local TV (14) - 2 sunday night nationals and a thanksgiving game (11) and the probability that 2-3 more will be the primary national game - let's say just 2 so that is 9 games

so the benefit it's providing to me is $43 a game - really not cheaper than going to the sports bar (where I can still catch the ends of other games as well) - the main reason I hang on is convenience, I can DVR and enjoy the AZ fall/winter and catch the game at my leisure ....... but they are really starting to make me re-think my options

More on DirecTV management policy

I stopped DirecTV on May 1 when I moved out of my house and put it up for sale. I did not have a time related contract with them.

I notified them formally by message on-line in my DirecTV Account manager. They sent me back a message confirming receipt of my instructions but refused to terminate service unless I clicked on a special link they provided to make me deal with their retention people.

I messaged back that I would not do this. Then I called the DirecTV phone number, punched through the menu, waited a long time and finally spoke with a service rep.

Always polite, I explained everything and told her to close my account, give me a final bill and I'd pay it. She handled it, told me I had to send back two of my three receivers and my final bill of $45.00 would be mailed out immediately (I now wanted paper evidence). She said service was terminated immediately.

Three days later, UPS or FedEx, don't remember which, dropped off two cardboard boxes with specific RMA #s and instructions. That same day, I put the two receivers in the correct boxes, took them to a shipping place and sent them back.

The $45.00 bill game in a few days later. I paid it. Mailed it. By March 15, Account manager showed the bill as paid and $0 was due.

A month later I got a bill from them for my June service for $173 and change. Got another email telling me to access a special link. Ignored it.

I ignored the bill. That email address was discontinued a few days later, as regularly intended, since I got a new one under the cox account of the service I share with a roommate at my new place.

Today, a piece of mail from DirecTV, forwarded from my old address, threatened a negative active action against my credit if I did not pay and contact them as well. No mention of stopping my service.

Not concerned about any credit impact and possessing paper evidence of account termination, including a print out of the $0 balance due, I'm ignoring everything.

Thought I'd share that with you so you are forewarned if you decide to leave them.

1. You should be concerned about your credit.

2. You're having this entire problem occur because you refuse to click on a link, yet you find the time to write an 11 paragraph post explaining everything. Not the smartest thing in the world.

If locals are blacked out over the air, they are also blacked out on Sunday Ticket. (except the Red Zone Channel).

Principle means a lot to me. My choice to make. I always make that same choice in similar situations.

Dumbness is relative to circumstances.

If the experience I related tells you nothing useful about DirecTV, perhaps it might to others.

Principal means a lot to me as well. As long as you have that $0.00 balance invoice in hand you will never have to worry about the your credit. Just one question. Did you return your reciever cards with the reciever? If you didn't, that is probally why you are being charged.

Yes I did. And the bill is clearly marked for my June service and itemizes the separate parts. There is no mistake.

Baloney. The way he handled it, he should not have had to click on the link any longer.

Skkorp, I'd file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau if they send anymore nasty letters.
