I'm MichealIrvin when it comes to searching for very specific threads, I guess. I can't find the Directv thread that provided the number and user-experience for calling DTV's customer retention line and getting free stuff.

Can anyone help a brotha out?

I actually just called this morning...(800) 824-9081, and I got the upgraded dish, HD DVR (799.00), and Superfan (99.00) at no cost. They denied ever having offered this deal for customers asking to terminate Sunday Ticket but gave it to me anyway...with a little proding and maybe many years of DirectTv service and NFL Sunday Ticket from day one. Everything gets installed on Monday...no problem, since I will be in Vegas this weekend! Good Luck

I bitched about poor customer service and a real headache in trying to get my service reconnected after moving.

I already have an HD-tivo receiver, so I didn't ask for that. I just asked what they could do for me. They're giving me $15 off my bill for a year and HBO for 6-months at $2/month.

I'm okay with that.

Shoulda taken the 2nd Tivo too since it's free. That way, if your main tivo takes a dump on you you got a backup.

Those jerks! When I finally called last Saturday they said they were finished doing the free HD DVR deal.

They gave me superfan, and 6 months free of starz, 3 months free of showtime.

To be honest, I could care less about the movie channels.

I'm counting on when my Tivo goes kaput that the cost of the new DTV HD reciever will have gone down. I understand from the installer that they just released the newest model a couple of weeks ago...and it costs upwards of $1000 just to LEASE the thing.

He asked if I wanted one. I said yes, but I'd wait a couple of years.

(BTW, the installer -- here in Denver-- was pleased as punch when I got him a glass of water in one of the Cards beer cups from the stadium. He's from Phx and a Cards fan. That doesn't happen a lot in Denver, running into other Cards fans by chance).
