I don't think DJ got a fair shot here not sure why they make this trade now after we got Drajic, doesn't make sense. So now we have a couple of rookie PG's instead of DJ whom could have came in and played some D. Nice one Kerr!

Singletary is a true PG who carried mediocre UVA teams. He has some game.

Makes sense. With Dragic and his purported defensive presence, it is sensible to have a true PG which I don't think anyone here thought Strawberry was.

New head coach and 3 assistants
5 new players this summer.
2 point guards.

For sure there will be no more Barbosa running the point.

Nash Dragic Singletary
Bell Barbosa Tucker
Hill Barnes
Stoudemire Diaw Amundson
Shaq Lopez

I can see why they did it, but I liked DJ's potential to be Bell's backup. Maybe Tucker can be a good defender??? Barbosa will get better, but he can't guard like Bell can.

I'd have rather kept Strawberry than Tucker but I guess he's the one that had more trade value.

Not a fan of this move.

Hmmm, rockets PG position is not solid, but they have a ton of wings, not sure whey the rockets would want DJ, unless he could play point. I am concerned that the suns have been out maneuvered somehow here. Clearly Kerr didnt buy the get DJ playing time thing and develop him. I am not suprised that Kerr and DA saw the same thing except DJ had great potential defensively. I guess all the defensive improvement is on Dragic/barnes in the guard/wing position. I hope Dragic>>DJ 3 years from now, but they do appear to have similar limitations now.

A lot of people on other boards are calling him Marcus Banks pt. II. I really hope not.

I like this move. This kid is very fast and a natural PG. Not a bad defender, not bad from 3pt. The bonus is hopefully no more Barbosa at the point. I think he has more to offer the team than what I saw from DJ, JMO.

He's definitely not Marcus Banks II. He's more of a combo of Jack/Tinsley type PG with a bit better defensive side to him. A little like a poor man's Jerryd Bayless. I think it's a good pick up. Especially if the Suns are gonna try and rest Nash more this year. With only Dragic as a back-up, if Nash is out we have no TRUE PG to back up Dragic. This helps in the long-term. Yes, I'd have preferred to trade out Tucker than DJ but....

What a strange move. We all know the Suns wanted to get another PG to keep the pressure off Dragic, but I certainly didn't expect it to be another rookie, I suppose they'll let him and Dragic battle it out for the #2 job. I feel bad for DJ, it seems like the team was trying to shove him into the PG role, one which I don't know if he'll ever fit. I really hope he doesn't develop into a Bell/Bowen type and this move comes back to bite us. Like others have said, I would've much rather traded Tucker who I don't see much upside in at all.

Marcus Banks at a 2nd round minumum salary isnt the worst thing in the world, although Id rather have Strawberry.

The fact is, DJ still couldn't shoot and while he had a few point guard skills, he was more similar to Barbosa than Steve Nash. Singletary sounds like a pure point guard through and through.

I like the move--it's not like DJ was some experienced veteran.

In a van...down by the river.
At worst this a lateral move....unless of course DJ developes into Bruce Bowen II:bang:
New young faces under a different coaching staff is a positive thing IMO.

This is the way I generally see it as well. If the Suns are going to rest Nash some games they need to carry two PGs behind him. Unless the Suns could have picked up a better PG for the same money I like it. In regard to Tucker, I suspect he is a better player than we have seen.

Maybe I missed it but does Singletary have a guaranteed contract? It could be the Suns are still looking at options for a third PG.

I don't get the outcry that some have made over losing Strawberry. He is not a point guard and it seems that management likes Tucker better. At least Singletary is a pure point guard, however his summer league stats were not too impressive and his shooting was horrendous. Singletary's summer league stats. D.J. wouldn't have seen any time this year and neither will Singletary. No big deal.
