Any thoughts? Could a guy like Allen in Seattle, or Snyder, or whoever circumvent the cap by just basically giving him cash on the side in addition to his contract?
Do owners ever pay players under the table?

It could happen.
I mean, you guys do get the same free parking passes and food certificates that I do as enticement to attend Cardinals' home games, right?
If they did and the players didn't report the extra income, they would be spending time in the ole hoosegow.

Snyder doesn't need to pay under the table. The guy handed out $50 million above board in signing bonuses alone this week.
Remember when bidding for free agents the player is guarenteed the bonus, but they lose the salary part if they get cut. So Snyder just outbids everyone by paying huge chunks of the contract in bonus money instead of that risky salary stuff. Then the players don't do diddly squat on the field during the season. 'Cause they already got paid, see? They could care less if they get cut.
Yep. Snyder's got the perfect formula for buying a losing record every year.

The NFL has become a game of value, especially considering the money involved. Turning Preston Parons into a commodity is value. The Iggles turning AJ Feeley (5th round pick) into a second round pick is value.
Eric Crouch running for an occasional first down on some crazy flanker reverse or direct snap shennanigan is not value, especially considering the roster spot (only, what, 48 guys dress on Sundays?) and the extra practice devoted to a handful of plays for one guy.
If he could return punts or kickoffs it would be one thing, but he already showed that he isn't comfortable doing that, and the PR/KR guys need to be fearless, instinctive and very smart with their decisions.
There's always a chance I guess. His best shot at success in the NFL is a specialty weapon, like Dennis Green had in Amp Lee at one point. Dude caught 71 balls out of the backfield (only 69 rushes) and was a dangerous tool. Crouch could similar I suppose. But I doubt it at this point.

Yes it is known as personnal services contracts. one example is that Lomas Brown was promised a parking garage contract for his company if he signed with Cleveland Browns. Guess where lomas signed.
I think that the so called salary cap is a joke, and Mr. B. is one of the only owners in the NFL who plays by those rules. I applaud him for being so honest; but we as fans are getting cheated by owners like Snyder, Allen, and others who think that the rule are made to be stretched.

The Salary Cap is a figment of Snyders Imagination... to him it doesn't exist. There should be an inquiry by the NFL into this matter. The playing field is not even as Tag's wants you to think it is. Parity is a joke when it comes to "THE NFL SALARY CAP!!!"

Actually the cap is in full effect if you would look at all of the players he has signed this year everyone will have a base salary this year at the vet minimum with there salaries getting bigger and bigger over the life of the contract, he can do this becuaae he has huge ockets and can py them big upfront money. If you look at the contracts you could see why he has been able to sign everyone.

Mark my words.....this season will put the Skins into a hole that they will never get out of.........if any one of these FA's get hurt (God forbid, more than one) and you can kiss Snyder's sweet a$$ goodbye.
First you take out Brunell......which is entirely possible....he is a little brittle,
