Do we counter by drafting Milliner?

Wondering if Milliner is on the board if the Cards should pull the trigger with SF and SEA adding WR depth. What if Lane Johnson is there or Fisher are there? As much as we need help on the O-line and edge rusher having a backfield of Peterson and Milliner would be ridiculous having two young studs back there. You know PP is only going to get better.

I'm of the mindset that you draft to make your team better, not to counter other's moves. If Millner is not the BPA and doesn't fill a need, don't take him.

will not matter how good our secondary is if we cannot score....and we cannot score if our backs have no holes and our QB is on his back......

For God's sake fellow fans, you realize right the number of draft picks the Niners have and how many Boldin type trades they can and will make? We don't have a chance in 100 hells of doing anything this year to even stay put where we have been in our division. The 2 best teams are always doing things to get better and better, while we year after year just watch or wait around until we have to do something desperate that doesn't work.

I know some of you say that things could be different now and give it a chance. To me that is nothing more than like the proverbial chant of wait till next year that losers shout. I will believe it when I see it, and until then it doesn't exist.

Hes the best CB in a very weak CB draft.

At #7, absolutely not

Had he been in last years draft, he wouldve been the 3rd best CB. You want to use a #7 overall pick on the 3rd best talent at a single position?

He is a consensus lock to go top 10. He absolutely shredded the 40 yard dash time running a swift 4.37 seconds. He has a 93.2 Draft grade according to NFL.com and was one of the top performers of the entire combine. He has the size and strength to battle with NFL caliber receivers and he can hit. He is very shifty with his hips and has great closing speed. He also lined up against some of the best receivers in college football. He may be the top of the class in a "weak" CB draft, but he is a top 10 talent .

Too much zone, not enough man/press. He can't backpedal either.

He also killed it in the National Championship Game, granted they were playing Penn State, but still on the biggest stage that kid stepped up, came to play and played lights out. The Cards have bigger needs than CB right now, but CB is still a need. I'd much rather see a position of greater need addressed, but wouldn't be upset if he were the pick either.

But what if Toler goes somewhere else? Won't CB become a major need? We have Guards and Tackles and semi QBs, and OLBs, but we'd only have PP21 and Jamell Fleming to play CB?

Maybe by the time this gets posted Toler will be back in the fold. Or maybe not. KFFL shows him signing with the Colts.

Milliner may be the pick. With Toler and Gay gone CB is a priority. I wouldn't think signing a guy like Jerraud Powers would change that either. Eitner way CB now joins the growing list of positions that need to be addressed early on in the draft.

Ugh too many holes to fill. I would love to draft OL with our first pick, don't get me wrong. But we need to add some corners in free agency or we'll have to look to the draft. If we can sign Cason, we can pick up a mid round corner perhaps. If not, and Milliner is on the board at #7, I'd be surprised if they didn't pull the trigger. I wouldn't be mad if they took Lane Johnson or Fisher either.

I don't think Milliner is worth #7 overall. Would rather look into Nnamdi looking to rebound his reputation on a cheap 1 or 2 year deal

No offense gets good without having a good O-Line. No defense gets good without having a good D-Line. Good football teams are built from the middle out. That is the way we will eventually get good. This is a good year to build an O-Line in the draft. We should do just that, THEN we can concentrate on adding more playmakers.
