Do we ride Palmer for another year or start a rookie QB?

With his torn ACL? I'm leery of him for other reasons, but ripping up his knee is going to turn many teams off.

Sure. I don't expect him to run like RG3 out there so I'm not too worried about his knee. He was a potential 1st round pick before then so being able to draft him in the 3rd round and let him sit behind Palmer for a year or two will be a good thing.

Right there with you (making the fingers to my eyes to your eyes movement as I type). QB is something that is serious, we need to go all in on one non hurt guy that can develop with this young upcoming team.

If we draft a QB after the second round is over just shoot me. Whiz got his walking papers depending on those "steals" and "bargains", left overs and the undrafted. Nothing in life is free, Franchise QBs don't grow on trees, and they aint drafted in round 3.

Mettenberger dropped to the 3rd round because of injury, not because of skill level. Like I said, if it wasn't for the injury he would be a 1st round QB. An ACL tear isn't quite as significant for a pocket passer as it would be for a mobile QB or other skilled positions. The injury doesn't concern me, especially if he has a year or two behind Palmer to heal/learn the system.

Sorry, but as long as Palmer is playing well enough for us to be 10-5, then I simply don't see us using a 1st round pick on a QB. We have a handful of other needs that we can use that pick on and if we have a chance to draft a QB like Mettenberger in the 3rd round, then by all means do it.

I don't buy cars if they don't run, regaurdless of how nice they are, it's just being practical. If you want to go BPA that's cool, but don't say your fishing for other needs at the same time. We can afford a QB in the first round and we can afford to move up if we want, this team has shown what it needs. Buy something nice that works or just continue to suck with Palmer or whatever "bargain" we get in the late rounds.

With where the Cardinals will be drafting [20 or worse], you ride Carson another year or two. I'm impressed by his resilency, if not, his ability to avoid interceptions.

I don't consider 3rd round to be "late round" but sure what ever you say. Bridgewater, Carr, and Manziel will be long gone by the time we pick. I think Carr is the only QB out of those three that would fit into what BA likes anyways. Next you have Bortles and McCarron in the 2nd. Mettenberger can play just as good as they do, but having a chance to get him in the 3rd is a bad thing? Ok :D

If he is drafted behind all them cats it is for a reason, you are not smarter than the NFL. Getting a third round QB gives you the best odds at getting a third rate QB or even worse, damaged goods. I'm done with this conversation because you've obviously got your mind made up, you like him so much you want him before he is even healed up, and the draft isn't even here yet. Give me a break.

Sometimes the NFL isn't very smart either. Russell Wilson was drafted in the 3rd round because he was short. Because he was short.

Obviously things will change as draft day gets closer, so no, my mind is not made up. I would be perfectly fine with Bortles or McCarron in the 2nd. As of right now, I personally would prefer Mettenberger in the 3rd. Why get so butt hurt over my opinion? lol.

Your basing our future on Wilson being short and under rated? I don't get butt hurt, I get what's going on. Draft a QB in round 3 and you are already wasting draft picks, flukes are no reason to change the way to the show. Superbowl talent comes early in the draft when it comes to arms, go do some research, than get back at me. Your post/opinion does hurt my brain though. :D

Sanchise is hilarious but you just about brought up every QB (in the last 10 years) that wasn't drafted early and did good. Your making my point for me, what about the other 500 QBs drafted after the second round? LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT THE TRUTH NOW, let's see how one gets to the show:

1st Overall – 7 QBs combined for 19 starts
Top 10 – 13 QBs, 25 starts
1st Rd – 20 QBs, 36 starts
2nd Rd – 4 QBs, 5 starts
3rd Rd – 5 QBs, 8 starts
4th Rd – 3 QBs, 4 starts
5th Rd – N/A
6th Rd – 4 QBs, 8 starts
7th Rd or later – 2 QBs, 2 starts
Undrafted – 2 QBs, 4 starts

That is 36 super bowl appearances from QBs that come in the first round, add up the rest of the rounds all together and then you'll see. This is simple. 8 total starts from 3rd rounders, but hey, we are smarter than that.

I don't even want to confess my choice because we actually have a GM and a HC that I believe in. I'm just waiting to see what we get for Fitzmas. :)

Sure and post 1st round QB's are equal to the first round QB's combined based on your numbers.

It's a crap shoot.

And that's why you play the odds, put desirable people in place to make these decisions, and go get who you want instead of what ever lands in your lap. I think Keim and Arians have great minds, I don't see them drafting Leinart while Rodgers slides. This is what we need to move forward, and the higher we draft, it becomes less of the gamble you are worried about.

Are you afraid of getting burned or are you looking for a QB?

Agree with this. Teams don't take QB's in rd1 unless they expect them to play immediately for the most part. So taking a QB in rd3 that has a first rd grade because of a knee injury is a great plan. ACL tear is basically nothing for modern medicine to fix.

Like your mock draft but would rather go OT or Pass Rusher in rd1. Based on how well the DB's played against the Seahawks I don't think we have a hole at Safety. I get that Bell is old and yes BPA is the way to go so move up or back in the first rd to get a Pass Rusher or OT.

We can ride him for the next 2-5 years. So yes he's the perfect QB to have while BASK find and groom a QBOF.

You don't base your future on the fact that he was short. The Seahawks were obviously able to look past that and now they're laughing their way to the playoffs and most likely the Super Bowl (yep with a 3rd round draft pick).

We HAVE a Quarterback. His name is Carson Palmer. As long as he is OUR guy, then the Cardinals will likely not spend a 1st round pick on a QB. We are not the Texans, Jaguars, or Vikings. We are not desperate for a QB. So taking a QB in the 3rd round, who was potentially a 1st rounder prior to injury, makes perfect sense. You let him heal, you let him develop, then you see what you've got when the time comes.

Give me Mettenberger or Murray in the 3rd to learn behind Palmer for a year or two and get healthy. Then we can stay with the same system of a smart QB with an arm that isn't overly mobile so we won't have to change the offense.

But I am riding with Palmer til his arm falls off or the Colts accidentally trade Luck to the Cards for a future 7th rounder.

HAHA... love it...

Ride Palmer until he dies; I think the dude is just gonna get better. I really do.
