Plummer, like most Cards' skilled players, was more a victim than a cause of the AZ ineptitude. He was a good player when he landed here, but the Cards wanted to make him more of a pocket passer. By the time he left he was so confused he had become ineffective. Jake is a perfect example of why I worry about them pushing Leinart in behind such a bad line. You ruin quite a few good QBs that way. Leinart will fare better than Warner, but the risk is too great. Plummer is still a decent QB, but he could have been so much more. For all those criticizing him, as far as I can recall he was good enough to get to and win a playoff game. As to wanting him back, Montana in his prime couldn't function behind this line.

I like Jake the person a whole lot, but Jake the QB sucks. And I'm sick of people blaming his downfall on the Cardinals. He looks like crap this year with the Broncos.

I think Tango misses him, but for so many reasons probably not related to football :moon:

His post was classic, "Jake you were my Prince and I was your little School girl". They should have a forum of all the classic threads like that, so newbies don't miss out on the classics.

After the 1st quarter today I'd say everyone's answer will now be NO.

Jeff Blake, Josh McCown, Kurt Warner, Shaun King, John Navarre and finally Hollywood Matt.

Not much difference except he was the only starting QB for the cards to direct us to the playoffs. And win a playoff game! Glad we have Leinart now but Jakes years were at least exciting you always felt we had a chance in the end. Would take Jake over King, Navarre, McCown, Blake and some of the clowns we have had since! I too feel bad for Jake hard for anyone to get a fair shake in Denver since Elway.

I always felt we had a chance down 10+ with 3:00 left when Plummer was at the helm. True, he was often the reason the Cards were in a hole at the end of the game...however, I always felt we had a chance when he was in the game. I'd rather have Plummer than Warner!

There was no "dump Plummer" atmosphere here. The Cards offered to re-sign him but at millions less than Denver put on the table.

The difference in the offers: Denver saw the possibilities, Arizona saw the flaws.

Both teams made the wrong offer (AZ offered way too little, CO offered way too much). Me, I loved watching Plummer play. But, as one poster said, the highs were balanced by the boneheaded decisions that almost inevitably followed.

I'm proud of myself I avoided this thread all weekend.

This year Jake Plummer is the highest rated QB in the NFL when playing with the lead(among starters) and dead last when playing from behind. Last year rating when ahead 105, behind 73. Jake is the wrong QB to have in our franchise because we're ALWAYS behind.

People think he was great at comebacks because he had so many chances to comeback always being behind. He's had almost no comeback wins in Denver(something like 2-3 IIRC) because they're ahead a lot more. he wasn't magic it was just the odds were we'd win a few games a year and most of them were comeback wins because we were behind so often, often because of him.

Jake could have stayed but he chose to pursue FA when told he wouldn't be guaranteed to start here, worked out well for him and now we have Leinart.

I regret the Broncos picking up Jake Plummer!!

He's the Broncos' Kurt Warner!!! I still can't figure out what Mike Shanahan sees in Jake Plummer. Yes, it's true, Elway is a tough act to follow for any incoming quarterback but but he's been gone for years now. The fact is, just like with the Cardinals, Plummer has not been able to handle the pressure, take the hits, and be comfortable out of the pocket. I believe he's one of those players that could not make the transition from college to the pros. It's that simple.

As a Bronco fan for 21-plus years, believe me, I've seen hard times before. I'm looking forward to Cutler starting next year and chalking all of this season up to an awkward growth period.

Leinart played great yesterday for his rookie start. It seems unfair to ask Cardinal fans to be patient (like you haven't been already you guys deserve the nobel patience prize!!) but Matt's a keeper. It's your coach that needs to go.

Give me a break.

A Broncos fan coming onto a Cards board saying they've "seen hard times" is like griping about a wart to someone who has skin cancer.

Alot of Broncos fans are pretty happy with him. Good record as a starter, good TD-INT ratio, good QB rating.
Especially not this year. Two TDs, four INTs, 60.6 rating. 33rd highest rated QB in the league behind both Warner and Leinart.

What's to miss?

I was reading this thread and was shocked that I didn't see you name till page 3. I was getting worried that something was wrong.

I think its funny how fickles those broncs fans are all the guy has done since he has been there is win! Yeah they have lost some playoff games but hell everyone does except the SB winner. Its just a matter of time for them not to have to play indy in indy or a tough Steeler team. They are close and talking about going to a rookie QB what a crazy bunch of fans!

no, haven't missed him.

I'm pretty sure Denver wants to miss him.

We were lucky, we didn't have to take a hit on the salary cap when he left, Denver will when they release him at the end of this season.

Um no I do not miss Plummer and his 3 picks a game granted 98 was a fun year but that is the only time he did anything here and if anyone remembers we shouldve lost that seahawks game when their player droped a sure int that if I remember correctly wouldve won the game for them and kicked the Cardinals out of the playoffs. But no I dont miss him and i'm thrilled to have Leinart as our qb of the future

I'll bitch about Jake Plummer all I want!!

I like Jake the person a whole lot, but Jake the QB sucks. And I'm sick of people blaming his downfall on the Cardinals. He looks like crap this year with the Broncos.

Damn right he looks like crap. Plays like crap. Has no champion-like attributes. Last night, he couldn't run the ball a mere 3 yards for the first down. That's nine feet, people! In a fairly open slot! Can't run, can't take a hit, is uncomfortable out of the pocket, can't go more than 1 game without an int. I have every right to whine on this board. I feel a kindred connection with Cardinal fans because you have already lived through the pain and frustation of Jake Plummer. I'm just learning what that's all about. Sure, the Broncos are 4-1 but it's a big, fat fluke.

BTW, AJCARDFAN, I haven't missed one Arizona Cardinal snap this season. :slap:

The Broncos are 36-16 with Plummer at QB and the fans are complaining?

If Leinart ever gets the Cards to 36-16 we'll have Pope make him a Saint. His birthday will be a Valley holiday. Beautiful women will offer to paint his house.

Here here.. What are your hard times? 4 Superbowls without a win?

Try being a Cardinals fan.

As for dumping Plummer, don't regret it, never will. Period.

All this must have happened in DEN, because none of these stats were good here.

Great guy though.

Right, he seems like a standup guy and he is the sort of player you want to see succeed. However it's plain to see that he is a placeholder for Cutler.
