here's my dilemma and it's not my girlfriend it's my dad. he's from New Zealand and didn't grow up watching football. The man is a freaking genius but for 20+ years I have been hearing him make the same comment about the NFL without ever learning.

"How come on 3rd and 9 the receiver doesn't run 9 yards? Why stop 2 yards short of the first down and catch it that's pointless?"

I absolutely can't get through to him that the DEFENSE knows it's 3rd and 9 too and they set up with one goal in mind, let them throw in front of you and make the tackle, don't let them get that 9 yard pass. That's why it happens over and over.

How do you get a highly intelligent person to accept that?

My wife goes to all the games understands enough and roots for the Cards. I guy could not ask for more. She understands most of it and will even correct me ( I hate that) when I'm wrong.

Many game analysts and commentators often ask the same question. They don't have an answer either.

Its simple

Its simple to teach your "partner" how to watch the Cardinals. "See, Honey thats our team that keeps getting scored upon, arn't they great." " Its good we have no life, and keep rooting for this garbage product."

Ask every Cardinals offensive coordinator from the past 10 years!

I consider myself one of the lucky ones. Wife is a diehard Bears' fan. Goes to all of the Cards' games with me and many ASU games. We both love football. All is well. :D

After my wife realized that football consisted of a bunch of well-built guys running around in tight fitting pants, she took over the job of getting the season tickets to make sure I wouldn't forget.

Suggest she go with Brighteyes aka Jo Sparkes, who by the way introduced me to football

Absolutely not and I wouldn't have it any other way. My wife hates football, being able to only tolerate baseball. She leaves the house on sundays when the Cards are on. She acknowledges that she will never get me to dim my ardor for the team and the sport so she doesn't try. She comes along with me to Arizona only because the weather's nice. She's been to three Cards games with me total. Two were before we were married and she wasn't yet sure she "had me" so I remind her all the time of how she "pretended" to like it. Maybe the fact that I made her come to AZ for a game on our honeymoon had something to do with it? But it doesn't bother me that she doesn't share it with me. I wouldn't want her around for all the swearing that goes on and besides she'd never understand how some one sane could become unhinged by a simple fumble or interception.

I know what you mean ChiCard my wife is Sicilian and she hates it. She always ******* as to why they call it football and they throw it. LOL !! I gust give her some money and let her go shopping. ( Thats a good cure all).

Jim O, I have been trying to long distance call from Italy to the Cardinals office to get some stuff for my son and who would be a good point of contact there?
