Dockett needs to ask himself: what leverage do I have? My contract has three years left on it. If I hold out, I get fined $14,000 per practice. If I continue to hold out throughout the year, years don't come off my contract so at the end of the year, it is still a three year contract. I will look like a fool to other teams if I do not play on the field.

But by all means, DD, keep whining for a trade. Surely, you'll get your way :sarcasm:

Too bad we can't oblige his request.

I love the guy, but I'm tired of this ridiculousness. Boldin at least has some leverage. Dockett, not so much.

Right now, if I'm the Cards I come out and say that contracts will NOT be renegotiated unless they have 1 year remaining. Period. And I blame it on Dockett. You can't have the inmates running the asylum.

Maybe the Cards core players took the slogan "We do this together" literally. Dansby, Q, DD, who's next...stayed tuned.

Had the Cardinals said this all along, there wouldn't be as much of a problem now.

What EVERYONE seems to be forgetting is that it was the Cardinals who opened up the can of worms with Boldin by saying they wanted to keep the core together. As an example, in OCTOBER OF 2007, Graves said they wanted to get Boldin a new deal. That was when Boldin still had three years left on his deal after that season. They made him an offer with no guaranteed money, he hated it, and the rest is history.

Didn't Q have 3 years left on his contract when he first started to ask for a new one?

Difference there is that the FO told Q they'd give him a new deal, then got backed into the fitz situation and didn't work on Q. Thus, Q got his sore anus disease he currently is scratching. Then he touched Dockett and D-Dock caught sore anus by contact.

Graves kind of dug his own grave when he made this statement. That is why we need a no nonsense GM to come here and take the law into his own hands.

Can Sheriff Joe do contracts??

Yeppers!!!
Thats what keeps getting Graves in trouble, running his mouth in the media over and over about getting extensions done for player x, player y and player z and getting their hopes up then letting them down. Rod get it done or shut your piehole!!! :bang:

I just read Sando's article on the situation.

He says the Cards are "considering" looking at his contract again.

When will Graves learn?

Agreed.

The song and dance has gotten old and predictable. The Cardinals are not falling for it.

And to tell you the truth, I the fan, am not falling for it either.

I am not going to bash the front office on strictly the emotional part of this situation, and I am not going to bash the player for his actions either.

That drama is B.S. I got caught up in it once, and felt stupid. Not this time.

What will be will be. There will be 45 guys comes September, and that is all that matters.

I can hardly read this message board right now. I swear we go one with with a great vibe, and all hell and panic breaks loose over the smallest things.

Good idea let's trade Dockett and Boldin and Dansby to Detroit for their 0-16 season.

Seriously, I am concerned about what is going on with this team. I don't remember the exact comments from Antonio Smith, nothing bad per se about the Cards, but the tone indicated to me that something was not right with his relationship with the team. And it had nothing to do with talent. Now we have more guys who are unhappy in Arizona.

I sure hope its just posturing by their agents and not the Cards continuing their long history of having disgruntled or problem star players (under 30 years old).

Actually Smith said nothing but great things to say about the Cardinals when he left. And if he did are we really going to use another Drew client in this situation. People want to blame this all on the FO yet they fail to realize it is only the Drew clients making the fuss. Dansby hasnt made a fuss, he only said he envisions a lot of money in an uncapped year, never blasting the FO, and showing up to voluntary workouts. Same goes for Wilson. The only problem children are Drew clients, yet its the FO to blame.

Graves did make his bed with Boldin by telling him he wanted to give him a new deal with years left, yet Boldin expanded the problem by not even answering the Cards phone calls and had his agent tell the CArds they will now wait until Fitz gets his deal. Both sides are completely at fault. As for Dockett, Graves has never made him any promises, in fact when he met with Drew at the combine he flat out told Drew they wont even discuss a new deal with 3 years left on it.

What blog are you reading? That is way twisting his words and Graves said no such thing.

"The Cardinals have said they plan to work toward extensions with Karlos Dansby and safety Adrian Wilson before they revisit contracts for players with more than one year remaining on their deals. Boldin, with two years left on his deal, also stands ahead of Dockett."

That doesnt say anything about graves considering giving Docket an extension any time soon. That blog only mentions Wilson and Dansby as getting extensions, then the writter, not Graves assumes it would be Boldin and Dockett next. Yeah they are considering looking at his contract again "maybe" after a long list of other players and a few years later. Graves didnt say anything or make any promises to Dockett at all, not even a "consideration".

We should send a copy of DD's New England performance (and include the pathetic video of his whiny ass in the steam room) to every GM in the league.

Put a post it note on top of the DVD that says... Interested? oh ya, he also has 3 years left on his contract that he wants ripped up too.

If any of these guys should have a problem it should be with their agent who told them to sign a contract that they are unhappy with just one year into it. You would think the players would see the huge failure of their agent to advise them to sign such a bad contract. Sorry but they have to be idiots to not see that or they have to be idiots to have believed Drew when he told them when they signed their original extensions that he could get them another new deal one year later. They got sold a bill of goods and their pride cant admit it.

And I say that knowing full well Cards created half of the mess with Boldin by promising him something.

I only wish as fans we would'nt feed into anything Q says or does ANYMORE.We know it isn't gonna be positive and we should'nt let it effect us as if it was hurting the guy to pay his power bill.

This isn't really common stuff with all NFL teams and players but I think coach Whiz will handle this stuff with a passion, and will make sure that HE has the reigns on all of the contract stuff as to who gets what next.

You can't honor any of these bad acts with money.None of them.I'm just ashamed that these are FSU guys.We have a FSU branch campus right here in Panama City Florida. To go along with our two year community college,Gulf Coast CC.

I think Bobby Bowden should retire while he is behind and having to forfeit 14 games of the past due to bad athletes all over the school and thier deeds. He's too nice of a man to have to put up with these clowns year after year.

I think coach Whiz has a few tricks up his sleeve and if these guys think they can squeeze blood out of a carrot then they can just make things worse for themselves.I'm sure they don't want to pay the Cardinals back money instead of making more money.

We should ignore them.I don't think we could get anything fair for Q right now after the draft especially. It was'nt a good year in the draft (In my opinion) anyway.I really feel it was a very off year for college talent.

The less said about how mad Q or Dockett are the better.Who cares if they get white hot as Mitch said? All that matters is that will they be there on the field on Sunday to take all thier problems out on the opponent or try some other game?

I really even wonder if A-Dub is all that excited with extending his contract so far as we know that they are suppose to be in talks yet nothing has happened in quite a while.Whether he isn't happy with what is being offered,we'll never know.

I think these players love it when the fans get mad at the front office and act like thier favorite player is being done unfairly.I don't think we as fans should be a part of the game. This kind of thing always comes with winning or going to the SB.Especially for a first time trip.I saw it destroy the 85 bears.Too much talent on one team.Especially on the defense to make them all happy with money and the cap.

I'm kinda curious as to how far Q or Dockett will take it this year. They just want to make the news as much as possible and get as much press on thier deals as they can.I'm personally not gonna add to it.This is gonna be the first time in Arizona when the new sheriff will be running this show. The old days are gone,I hope these games will too ,after Q gets made example of.

The players dont like Graves. There isn't a whole lot to that one.
Who cares? It isn't Graves' job to worry about DD who has 3 years left on his contract. There are more pressing issues. It is not a personality contest.

The team told him then they would not trade him but might consider discussing his contract. No talks on a new deal have occurred this offseason, so Dockett restated his trade request.

The difference is that the Steelers players actually performed in Pittsburgh, stayed out of trouble for the most part, didn't complain about their contracts or how the fo treated them, and didn't bad mouth the organization when they left.

In Arizona some of the Cards players performed for a year or two but then started with the malingering, and complaining and getting into trouble and incurring rather dubious off the field injuries. And of course when they left they talked about how glad they were to be out of Arizona.

Others just never put out much effort at all and were out of the NFL in short order.

It's either something about the organization or the Cards hold the NFL record for drafting guys with personality problems.

I agree...however, I'm not referring to the way the Cards FO used to act, but how they have started to act the last 2-3 years. We may have to lose a few malcontents to get to the level the Steelers are, with the FO and Player relationship.

Agreed Grave...say no and leave it at that. There is nothing Rosenhaus can do about it and should have thought about that when he came up with their current contracts. To bad Drew, what? are your players going to sit or fake injuries...guess they won't play or get any money and their chances of signing with another team after their contract is over gets hurt by doing so. Your such a good agent Drew...ooops, it seems you have met your match with the Bidwill vanilla front office and it is hilarious. 'No', that is all Graves have to say after Drew gets all winded with his requests or rather demands :)

Jurecki just reported that Dockett/Rosenhous asked the Cards to trade him and the Cards flat out said no.

LOL! Don't you have to have some kind of leverage to ask for a trade? I'm serious lmao here.

Lets just have a work stoppage, renegotiate w/ athletes who live in the real world, and see how these primadonnas like working for a living. OMG I can't believe I have to play a game for 5.5 Million dollars a year, how the #### am I suppose to support my 21 kids on that kind of salary?!?!?!

BITE ME Darnell!

I just assumed he'd already asked for a trade. Unless he holds out of training camp, which I seriously doubt, this situation doesn't faze me.
