Dockett laments Dansby’s decision to “chase the money”

“I personally feel like he chased the money versus chasing a ring,” Dockett said. “No knock towards Cleveland — I don’t want people to try to think I’m saying Cleveland doesn’t have a chance; everybody has a chance — but I just felt like it was made for him to be here.”

While it’s hard to tell a guy not to get top dollar for his services, Dockett seems to think Dansby’s market was influenced by a performance that was aided by the team’s potent defensive line.

I was thinking the same thing. Guys like Dansby leave here and they are no longer in my circle of favorite players. He might as well be Richard Sherman or Michael Crabtree.

I see DD taking a pay cut if asked, the crazy man really loves this team. Larry is classy but I just do not see him taking a pay cut but if he leaves... he will do so gracefully without being a drama queen in the process

Re: Fitz - pay cut here or somewhere else. Cards are likely to be the team that pays more.

I don't think there is any question that Dansby chased the money. Dockett is just stating the obvious.

I also agree that Dansby will most likely struggle in Cleveland compared to what he did with the Cardinals. Cleveland just doesn't have the talent on the D Line like the Cardinals have.

I think Dockett has given us some pretty cap-friendly deals in the past, and I hope that continues in the future. I think he can play at a high/reasonable starter level for at least this year and the next, maybe one more. That would give us ample time to draft a guy to be the next man up.

I remember when D90 was drafted.....he was insulted that he had been passed over so many times......
Maybe I am a deluded fan but I just have a gut feeling that DD is actually about loyalty and wants the Cards to be his only NFL team. When the time comes I believe he will reduce his pay as long as the team makes a reasonable offer....ya cant just insult the guy and offer vet minimum if he is still productive,...but a reasonable offer for his production and position on the team.
I think he will accept the pay reduction,...and retire an Arizona Cardinal.

Agree I think he really wants to retire a redbird. When you hear him talk about Haynesworth and now Dansby he's speaking from the heart and if his next offer is reasonable I think he agrees to a pay cut.

DD is my wife's favorite player. She yells "Dockett in the pocket!" whether he's involved in the play or not lol.

Dockett never said the term "chase the money" that I saw.. What I read was him, say he didn't know anything about the money in terms to Dansby, and that this defensive line was made for someone like Dansby to be great in.. I took this as Dockett was upset about two things.. Loyalty that Dansby didn't stay, and that Dansby said he was the reason the Cards defense was great anytime he plays on it remarks right after he signed with the Browns..

Fitz has a nearly $24M cap charge in 2015 after converting $11.75M of his scheduled 2014 salary to bonus. He's due $16M in cash payment from the Cards in 2015. That's for one year's worth of service.

I think that Fitz could get $16M in 2015 alone if he's mildly productive (say, 1000 yards and 10 TDs). It'd be $10M in signing bonus and $6M in salary, but if the Cards are going to approach him for a straight pay cut, Fitz's walking price is likely $12M or less.

I don't know. Almost no one finishes their career with the team that drafted them. I'd like Fitz and Dockett to both go wire to wire as Cards, but I'd say there is maybe a 2% chance of that happening. The most likely scenario is each finishes their career in another uniform.

I'm going to buck the trend here, and I will predict that if only one of Dockett or Fitz finishes here, it's going to be Fitz. Why? Mike Bidwill. I truly feel he has made it a priority for his GMs to keep Fitz ALMOST no matter what. He man loves Fitz, I don't think he feels as strongly about Dockett.

I didn't suggest a re-do. Even if the Cards only guarantee Fitz $10M in 2015 cash flow, that's still a cap charge of over $17M, which probably isn't acceptable.
