"ChrisJohnson28 just ask me what will it take to get me in a titans uniform , @#&! what yall think what will it take?"

The implication in there is pretty damned clear.

Too bad for you his head coach came out and supported his desire for a new contract. That must be frustrating.
Not really. The head coach doesn't write his paychecks. His head coach was also the one that said a year ago that they would only do re-signings at the end of contracts. So no, Whiz saying anything doesn't affect my thinking at all.

When Whisenhunt made the comment I was thinking he had his own situation at the back of his mind. The front office certainly has a challenge ahead of them.

At this point you give Whiz what he wants. It doesn't count against our salary cap (if there was one) so I don't see an issue here.

This issue is that he certainly isn't going to want, or should IMO, take anything less than what Pete Carroll got. It's hard for me to think they saw that coming and were thinking of paying him in that range. I hope I'm wrong, but I think Carroll's hiring complicated Whisenhunt's new deal tremendously.

Whiz took the ARIZONA CARDINALS to a Superbowl, made us NFC Champs, were 2x NFC West Champs 2 years in a row, and he did all of this in only 3 years. I have a feeling they were ready for some steep payments.

Wait we already treated him fairly. We gave him alot of money and most of us said he didn't deserve it. Has he out performed it? Absolutely. Did he want his chunk of change up front? Absolutely. It's his own fault and now he wants to gripe and complain. The front office is in a PERFECT situation to ride out his contract, pay him top 5 money for two years, and let him go at 32 when he should be on the decline. Ur saying don't do that just so that Cards can pay a guy who hasn't said a nice thing about our organazation in 2 years?

EDIT: And if we did resign to say a 5-6 year deal we could be paying 13 mill to a guy who isn't performing at that level. It's to risky. Doing it my way gives you 4 years to find a replacement and 3 of those years to let him walk. The prime of his career is in the Cardinals hands and I couldn't be happier.
What risk? If he fails to perform the organization has the option to jettison him at any time. And, I did say that if Dockett chooses not to agree to a fair and reasonable increase that the Cardinals still hold the option which you are suggesting. On the other hand, if they choose to "really screw him" (your words) how does that effect how the organization is perceived by other players for future contracts and FA opportunities?

This team just came out of the "dark ages"! You are suggesting that the Cardinals refuse to negotiate and go back to the tactics used during those times.

For me it doesnt matter if what he is doing really affects anything or not. As a fan it pissed me off. I remember last year at Fan fest watching 9-0 and Q walking around with thier jerseys not even on after both taking Drew R.'s advice to whine and cry about wanting more money. I was so mad as a FAN.

Personally as a FAN him saying he will have to think about this (when talking about going to the Whiners) just crossed the line. He signed the deal he is playing under and was EXTREMELY happy about it. I seriously doubt he was thinking "damn I am not this good, I wonder why they paid me so well"!!! No he was thinking "thats right, respect! I got paid because I am a damn good NT/DE....here we come pro bowl!!"

Truth is the Cards will probably want to find a way to keep him when this deal is up. And that would be the time for him to get smart and require some incentives on top o a good salary. All this "out played a contract" talk is crap to me. This team has shown that if you are playing a much higher level than what they expected when they signed you that they will reward you. And when I say you I mean Dockett! So take the valuable advice of probably the two most proffessional players on this team and ****!!

Do you have any problem with Warner going to visit SF last year? If not, and this goes for anyone else knocking Dockett, you are not being fair.

It's ok for Warner to use a division rival to leverage more money out of the Cardinals but not for anyone else? It's ok for Warner to do whatever he feels necessary to get paid but not anyone else?

I was a bit pissed about that personally. But I do see it as two completely different situations. Dockett has been crying about wanting more money for over a year now and is still under a contract that he willingly signed for two more years. Warner was not under contract and was free to sign anywhere.

I disagree DJ. Warner was an UFA. Not a member of the team at that point. People understand that UFAs will listen to whoever wants to talk about giving them money. Dockett is a part of the Cardinals. Now. If Dockett ever becomes an UFA I won't begrudge him if he talks to any team but that isn't the case.

Well I was referring more to Dansby who has had a ton of hate heaped on him by posters on this board for saying he wanted to be paid, when he was an UFA. But then Dockett isn't talking to any other team because that would be tampering. He's just being Darnell and to me what he has done on twitter is far less annoying than our starting QB using a division rival to leverage more money.

I'm not castigating Warner for doing what was in his best interests just saying it was as annoying to me as Dockett's twitter posts seem to be to many on this board.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't the NFL consider it tampering if players on the 49ers were actually making these "offers" to Dockett? So I wonder are they real or is he just thinking out loud on twitter? If they're real I can't imagine why the Cards wouldn't file a formal protest with the NFL over tampering and get the 49ers fined or maybe a lost draft pick?

I hope we do keep Dockett, great player, but if this gets to a point where
the team decides to trade him I hope they "tweet" it from Rod Graves and announce "we will consider any offers except the Titans and 49ers". THen when
they get the deal rather than notifiy Dockett and his agent, they can just tweet it "Hey 9-0, we just traded you to the Raiders."

I don't believe you can have tampering at a player to player level. There has to be some form of coercive communication between the player and the club management of the other team. Players talk all the time to other players and discuss how they'd like to have player X on their team. Coaches, GMs, and owners can't.

OMG, it started out so calm, then you started screaming at me and I had to leave the room.
