GLENDALE, Calif. -- Dodgers relief pitcher Guillermo Mota was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, the California Highway Patrol said.
Mota declined comment Tuesday when reached in Cincinnati, where the Dodgers are playing the Reds.
"Keeping with our team policy, we'll just handle it internally," Dodgers general manager Dan Evans told the Daily News, but the reliever is not expected to be suspended or fined.
Mota was stopped at about 2 a.m. Monday for allegedly speeding on the Ventura (101) Freeway in Glendale, CHP spokesman Officer Ron Burch said. Mota was arrested and taken to the Glendale police station, where he was given a breath test.
His blood alcohol level was .12. Mota was released on his own recognizance, but charges are still pending.
The pitcher accompanied the Dodgers on their charter flight from Los Angeles to Cincinnati.
The Mota is 1-0 with a 0.84 ERA in nine games. He was suspended at the start of this season. Mets catcher Mike Piazza charged Mota during an exhibition game March 12. Piazza, who had been hit by a fastball, later went into the Dodgers' clubhouse looking for the pitcher.
Mota originally was suspended for five games, but appealed and had it cut to four games last week.
