Charlie Casserley, who knows a thing or two about picking in the draft, says he wouldn't touch him before the fourth round.

I wouldn't want him either. Someone will though.

Considerations...

By the time draft day rolls around, what will we need?

My guess - Lots of things; including backup/possible starting help at TE, DE/LB, ILB, CB and the OL.

It usually takes a couple of years (or more) to develop a QB.

If we drafted a Tebow or anyone else at QB before round 4, we'd have one less pick to help us fill those other needs - and then we'd have to wait a couple of years to see if the guy developed.

Listening to a few of the NFL Network guys (whose views on Tebow are mixed) I came away with the feeling that he's got the physical ability and the leadership intangibles and that he can probably overcome the kinks in his throwing motion, but that his main problem (& one that could derail him forever) is "field-vision"/decision-making.

Even if Tebow's problem is accurately described, it shouldn't necessarily mean an automatic death-knell; but it raises enough of a question-mark to make a decision to forego a drafting a player at another position a risky and longer-range proposition I'm not sure we should take.

(Note - I'm foregoing the Cardinal-red text because cardsfanmd said he finds it jarring to the eyes. Do you all agree)?

I always read your stuff, and welcome the "black" font.

I can see the Colts grabbing Tebow in the end of the first, he's smart, mature, dedicated and competitive just like Manning. I can see Peyton grooming him until he is ready to retire in 3 years or so.

Tebow may eventually be a good QB but he won't go in the 1st round and anyone taking him before the 3rd is stretching it IMO.

No matter what his skills are, you literally have no idea if he'll ever be able to play the position because he's never run a pro style offense in his life.

He may never be able to do it, it's like taking a center fielder who's never hit a curve ball but is all world with fast balls, you may have something and you may have a fat lot of nothing.

He's a project and usually those go later rounds.

I'd bet Yes and double up

I laugh in your general direction.

And I am willing to bet all $190 of my dollars that you will be wrong sir.... DEAD WRONG!! <evil face>

When I made that statement I had over 50 trillion. It just doesn't have the same ring anymore. :-(

Tebow has a ton of raw talent & a work ethic that is unparalleled. I would not be surprised to see this kid become a very good QB in the NFL. I think that someone will take him in the 2nd round, but it won't be the Cardinals. If he were still there in Round 3, then I would jump all over that selection.

Bump. I guess Tebow and the media helped him leap into the 1st round.
