Knee injuries yes, but 'degenerative' means it's always actually injured and deteriorating. When Dr. Zimmer, oops I mean Coach Zimmer, made that statement, the media offered his comment as Zimmer characterizes the knee as 'degenerative'. Yeah, maybe it is but sure not based on Zimmer throwing that out there I believe out of context as his way of saying his knee cannot stay healthy. I have only heard that so far from Zimmer, and I do not buy "because the Viking medical staff told him" as validation. Is there an actual medical statement out there

I take Zimmer's words as valid here. If there is better than 50 percent chance in their medical prognosis, why would they throw 90 million to Cousins?

I think Zimmer does not understand the medical use of the word frankly, because I have not heard that from any other source. I think they let him go because he has injured the knee a lot in his tenure with them but that does not mean he has a degenerative knee. Palmer's knees where just as fragile but not degenerative according to a medical definition. I may be wrong... I just want more proof than a coach

I have a degenerative knee. Arthritis helps cause degeneration, wear causes the cartilege to be beaten down and it wears out,... that causes the joint to move around so the body produces bone spurs to try and keep the joint from moving. bone spurs then cause more inflamation and worse arthritis.

it doesnt mean he is crippled at this point. It just means that he will need a knee replacement before he is fifty. His most recent surgery was to clean up ragged cartilege and remove a bone spur... that will slow the degeneration. Flexibility training and ant inflamatories can help to keep his knee healthy as well.

Well, past forty we all have a degenerative knee and all the other joints due to something called age. I just do not like how Zimmer used that expression on a term which is mostly used for an extreme acceleration of the process. I think Lomax actually did have a degenerative hip

True. But Bradford is not past forty,...while his knee is. The fact they had to remove "Ragged Cartilege" makes it clear the knee has been injured so it is more than just aging.

I have a 50 y/o knee...and a 50 y/o knee that is degenerative. There is a significant difference in the two.

True too, but athletes can accelerate degeneration simply with the nature of their work.

I still do not think the term is accurate for Bradford and Zimmer was a prick for making that assertion
