Watching fricken Anquan Boldin basically run a marathon from side to side along the LOS of scrimmage during the game? The guy is literally in motion on about 80% of the plays it seems.

You cant tell me that it doesnt affect his stamina and his play somewhat. It has to be tiring sprinting back and forth then stoppping and going at the snap of the ball, running a 30 yard pattern running back to the huddle and they back at the LOS sprinting again.

I know someone has mentioned this before but it really seems like a lot of useless running especially on run plays.

Didn't you know? He has a generator hooked up to him & his running powers the a/c that keeps us relatively cool. The Q knows no limits, Shane. Geez.

It makes the defense adjust to him...and opens up lanes even for the running game. Shows Matt what kind of D he's looking at, and if they go to sleep on Q one time then he will murder them. I like that they run motion with him a lot...makes him even more dangerous and also you don't know what they are going to do. It isn't like "oh, Q's in motion so it's one of 7 or 8 plays." No, it's damn near the whole playbook.

I understand why they do it. But I think they do it entirely to much. You cant tell me that isnt affecting his route running and stamina at the end of teh game.

Guess it doesnt matter because 50% of the time Leinart throws it to him its in the dirt or over his head. :D

Short of choking the life out of the guy, I don't think you have to worry about his energy or stamina. He's a perpetual energy machine.

Quan is in great shape and I haven't seen it affect him at all. It's no different than the Suns running up and down the court every game. I think it is a non isssue.

I haven't seen him slow down during a game, especially that lst drive where he was running over guys.
They're young and in exceptional shape, he's fine.

YES!

That has been bugging the **** out of me!! I'd been meaning to post that exact thought, so I'm very glad to see you jump on that issue. What the hell is all that about? Knowledgeable football folks, what gives?

You need to have your receivers run routes on some running plays in order to draw off defenders or the secondary. Having Q run a route forces the CB and Safety to cover him rather than look to the backfield to stop the run. If, in due time, the CB and Safety start getting overly concerned with the backfield, Q can change the route, and get open (you see this numerous times when CB's start getting more worried about what is going on in the backfield rather than covering their own zone / man).

Sometimes, having a WR block his defender makes sense, depending on the play. Usually (IMO), having the WR run the route draws off defenders better than blocking, and can lead to a better running game.

runs

There was at least one nice run where i was watching boldin in motion during the play, and I saw him pop a defender about 8 yards up field to give Edge another couple on a a carry. He was moving to get into position to make a block on that play..it was nice.
