Then his family should hope he gets drafted by a team other than Arizona.

Where are all the 2008 draft picks that got better thanks to the Cardinals focused coaching and pro conditioning program?

Campbell was the 12th pick in the second round (50th overall) in the 2008 draft. He was the 6th DE taken in that draft. Today he's maybe the best defensive end to come out of that draft class (only Chris Long taken 2nd overall has an argument). Campbell weighed in at 282 in the 2008 NFL Combine. Today he's listed at 300 lbs, and doesn't look like a fatty.

But overall, yes, we screwed the proverbial pooch on Whis's first three drafts. Hopefully he's figured that out, because those awful drafts is the main culprit in our being 13-19 the last two years.

Not a Chris Wells fan?

In their defense on the DRC pick, it was more because of our defensive scheme change than anything else. If we would not have changed schemes (from hybrid to 3-4) DRC would most likely still be around despite his regression year to year.

Levi Brown was a bad pick in regards to players that were still available and his huge contract, but I can't call him a bust for the production we have gotten out of him. Disappointment, for sure though.

I'm actually a huge Beanie Wells fan. But I think that Lott asked him to lose too much weight and he's suffered from that and lack of use.

DRC probably/definitely got worse from his second to third season. Unqualified defenders of the coaching staff will insist that this is completely DRC's fault, but shouldn't some of the blame fall on the coaching staff unable to keep him motivated or interested? I still like DRC, but he definitely didn't improve in the training program and with coaching.

Levi Brown is still a disappointment. With a Top 5 pick, you should get a cornerstone of your franchise. Instead, we got a guy who we kind of wanted back, but didn't consider a core player. That's hugely disappointing.

This team is in trouble/having to overpay for free agents because Whis and Keim screwed up so badly in their first three drafts. Hopefully that gets turned around, because you can't turn Jorrick Calvin into nothing and Tim Hightower into magic beans and hope to compete in the NFL.

I think that Glenn with focused coaching and a pro conditioning program could be a dominating left tackle in the NFL.
Unfortunately he won't get that here. Grimm's coaching technique seems to be throw him out there and see what happens.

Is it just me or does it seem that this year's Mock Drafts are all over the place when it comes to who gets selected where more so than in previous Aprils?

I see guys on one mock at #14 and on another at #28.

yeah--

it sure seems like that after about #9 -- players #10 - #25 are all the same in terms of potential

Tier 1 seems like: Luck, RG3, Kahlil, Richardson, Clairborne
Tier 2 seems like: Couples, Blackmon, Brockers, Kuechley

and then ..... the questions start about everyone else.

For example: is Reilly Reif a demonstrably better NFL prospect (espn rated #12) than Mike Adams (#19)?

I think different coaches and scouts have different things they look for in an OT or any other position.

One guy likes feistiness.

Another prefers technique & finesse.

Another likes his OTs long (with long arms)

Another likes big time college experience

Another likes big farm kids from small midwest programs.

Another is big on "dancing bear" types.

Insofar that most prospects are a combination of those strengths or weaknesses, you're going to get a lot of differences of opinion from evaluator to evaluator.

Reiff is from Iowa. Dont we have a connection from there? The guy that talked to us about Iwebema?

I really believe we go O-Line now unless DD & Reiff are off the board.

I think Brown is a huge disappointment considering where he was drafted, but maybe we need to stop and think? Was/is it his fault he was drafted that high, and are our expectations of him as a player predicated on where he was drafted? What I don't understand, is it the mental part that he can't seem to grasp? After all he has two degrees so it's not like he isn't intelligent or are we expecting him to perform when he doesn't have the physical attributes to do what we seem to think he should be doing?

Good, reasoned comment.

My take - Brown did not have the franchise, "fail-safe" attributes of the guy who went ahead of him (Joe Thomas). Nor did he have the tremendous physical upside of a Logan Mankins. He was just a solid prospect with a good, balanced set of credentials from a good college program. Two things seem to have happened since then: (1) Levi didn't have the huge physical upside to grow into and (2) for various unexplained reasons, he never grew into whatever potential the coaches expected from him (the exception possibly and hopefully being the second half of last season).

Point #2 is important - At many positions (including the OL) teams draft not for how the kid looks today, but instead visualize how he'll look in 2, 3 or 4 years from now.

I don't think Levi is where the coaches expected and wanted him to be by now (& - 5-year extension or not - the window is beginning to close).
