it also reminds me a little of the jerry west/pao gasol stuff. wasn't it West that traded him to LA to basically line up Kobe's second run? like wtf are you doing. but this is worse for me because doncic is a legit top 5 player and gasol was not.

If Doncic wasn't traded to the Lakers, my guess the NBA would be investigating the matter.

I don't think so. GM's and teams are stupid. Everyone thought the Gobert deal was one of the worst deals ever from Minnesota's side and then 7-8 months later the KD deal took place. Maybe not as contentious at the time but definitely a head scratcher that's proven to be worse than some of us initially thought. Even the Bradley Beal trade caused some fans of other teams to be upset but at least Beal had the NTC so it made sense how he could dictate his location and ensure the landing spot didn't lose key players to acquire him.

There's no lack of bad trades. We see them regularly. Before AD hurt his back this deal looked more reasonable as well, he looked fantastic in Dallas. This deal was legit albeit shortsighted.

We got TJ Warren back, remember?
Now it's coming back to me. Watching KD play next to Mikal, Ayton and Booker must be really sweet, especially with CamJ and TJ providing the hot hand off the bench. And if that's not quite enough to get us a title we can use one or two of our picks to add another key piece, hopefully setting up a dynasty that will last for many years. That blow I took to my head still hurts but at least I have the Suns to console me through my concussion rehab.

If there is ever a time to have a concussion, this might be it, although I'm trying to find something less drastic.

I need to read up on the story of Rip Van Winkle.

Heard a rumor from one of the podcasts I listen to, that Doncic could just go back to Europe. He could get astronomical money over there. The NBA front office would be SO mad at the Mavs if their move chased Doncic back to Europe. Or he could just become a free agent.

Doncic is under contract until 2026-27. However, that final season is a player option for him. Thus, the five-time All-NBA First Team honoree could opt out and hit unrestricted free agency after the end of the next season. That would make the Lakers' acquisition a complete flop, as they'd be left without either him or Davis.

can’t wait till they trade Reaves and a first for another superstar. :(
It would take a true superstar to prey Reaves away. They really like him and he’s just coming into own now. Plus he’s on a team friendly contract.
