The significance is that neither the Lakers or the Mavericks are playing in May
not to mention lakers will get nothing for lebron + just traded ad and another first rounder - they're not contending anytime soon (thank you sweet baby Jesus)

Austin Reaves was terrible. Someone here wanted to do KD for AR + picks. LOL

That was about the worst I've seen him. He was missing everything until he hit a 3 half way through the 4th. He was hurting the Lakers out there.

I was actually thinking this may be one of those trades that hurts both teams.
Yes, I believe it is. In LA, AD was protected by Lebron in the sense that Lebron was always viewed as the best player, even if in value AD held more. With Kyrie, most will lean towards AD as being the team's best player. He hasn't shown he can win in that role. So they have to build maybe the best defensive team ever to have a shot to win this way.

On the Lakers side, man. Luka's defense sucks. It really gets exposed. Saw the same thing in Boston in 2024. They just keep going at him. He's got to improve his defense, and if he doesn't, the Lakers will need to find a way to put an incredibly talented defensive team around him, to make up for all the shortcomings. Here's the issue with Luka there. Yeah, he can drop 40 points a game, and he can take over. However he does need help. So how easy will it be for them to get that help knowing that the help has to also defend extremely well.

Really, I could see Luka having one of the best statistical careers in the NBA and yet never winning a title.
