Luckley I didn't watch last nights game, but I heard it on the radio... IMO Dessens Needed to be BOOed, but I thought it was all directed at him and now it sounds like the Boos were for the hole team that is not right. As an AZ Fan I never boo my own team a player that has not done well yes but a team NEVER.  Was anyone at the game to let us know if the Boos were for Elmer or the hole team???

First baseman Mark Grace, who has seen all types of fan behavior during his long career, said players don't take booing personally.

"I've always been a big believer in fans pay their money, they're allowed to do whatever they want," he said. "It's never any fun, but when they see something they don't like, they have every right to do it (boo). I learned a long time ago in Chicago: Don't ever get on fans."

I'm with Grace on this one. I think a fan has every right to boo when they are bad, and cheer when they're good. Just my opinion.

I was there... but for ANYONE to psych out the crowd to determine whether the Boos are for the one individual or the whole team is strictly in the mind of the observer...

The facts:

1. Many boo's began when Elmer was getting bombed... the boo's would increase whenever another guy got a hit

2. Many boo's as Elmer was leaving the field... Simultaneously, Myers was entering the game at the same time.

3. Myers got the one guy out, and actually got some cheers and polite applause when he left

4. Raggio struggled greatly... and when the runs kept coming... there were a few more boo's

5. The writer states that there was a "smattering" of boo's when Andrew Good gave up four runs, but I don't recall hearing boo's--it was more like "groans"

I didn't notice anyone taking a survey of all 30,000+ plus people to determine whether their boo's were sent as messages for individual players or for the team as a whole.... Whoever wrote the article is adding his own interpretation to that.

Grace always knows the right thing to say. Once of the reasons he is so popular.

I thought only Philly sports fans booed? At least that's what the media would have everyone believe.

Anybody who booed at that game needs to take a chill pill.

I don't care whether you paid for the ticket or not.

This team won 12 in a row at home. And, 18 of 21.

Dessens has struggled. Do you think booing is going to help the guys psyche?

The real problem is that it only takes a few idiots booing to make a lot of noise. It usually because at the time they are booing the rest of us are quiet. I personally feel embarrassed when the fans boo, especially when it's for a team that has been on a tear like the Diamondbacks. I don't care whether it was meant for Dessens or somebody else. It's lame as far as I'm concerned.

Grace is right. The fans do have the right to cheer or boo. That doesn't mean the team or the other fans have to like it.
