Man after reading some of the posts on here I had to refresh my screen to make sure I was on the right board. I went to the Patriots board ready for my lashing, and surprisingly they were very mild and commented on how impressed they were with the defense and Mccown.

Now we all know Josh made some very glaring mistakes yesterday and the offense as a whole stunk it up pretty bad. I was there at the game and boy was the smell bad.

Josh did about as well as could be expected when running for his life. I was screaming "NO DON'T THROW IT!!" a couple times especially on the second int, but he was trying to make a play and so I can live with it for now. It was a very bad decision, but when you have guys whacking you like he was getting hit yesterday I can't really blame him. After coming home and watching the Sunday night game, I am damn happy we got Josh after seeing AJ Feeley absolutely look horrid last night. He looked way worse than McCown.

This is not a love fest for him and he has a long way to go, but I am confident he will learn from his first "bad" game. This was a game against the superbowl champs who have won 17 in a row and confused some of the most cerebral QB's in the game.

We also were down one huge playmaker in Anquan and without a very talented RB in Marcel and we hung in there until the end of the third.

I for one am upset as anyone, but I am not ready to give up on Josh because he made some plays with his feet that bought him time when there was little of it there.

How to fix?

I say like others have said...AC should be pushed to guard or benched. LJ should be back in the lineup replacing him or possibly replacing Leonard at LT and leonard going to RT.

I think Scobey should get more carries and mix in Hambrick on short yardage.

We should try more ways to get the ball in Fitz's hands by either Wr screens or short slants.

Josh should be in the shotgun more so he can have an extra few seconds to see the field.

Nate Poole should be given more time on the field.

I hope Wendall has been working out and has been in his playbook.

Denny needs to get ahold of whoever is calling the pass blocking schemes and smack them around.

All in all I think we are right where everyone thought they would be. So no time to panic. Time to tighten the belt and put players in better positions to be successful.

I agree with you too.

The best news from yesterday was Coach Green's attitude. This team put up 12 pts and only lost by 11 to a well rested and prepared Superbowl team. Much better than getting shut out and losing by a bazillion points to Seattle. But at the end of the day the new coach is not one bit satisified with moral victory or mere improvement from last year. He was angry that the team was not even MORE competitive.
For the first time in a long time I'm actually starting have hope for the future of this team.

Josh got smacked around out there quite a bit. I think he was slightly injured. He definitely made some horrible decisions yesterday, especially in the second half. But the guy is so good at scrambling, making Dlineman miss, I really think we should give him some time to develop. It definitely isn't time to pull him at this point.

Yeah, McCown made some bad decesion but the O Line really Sucked!!! Dude was getting blasted, If this O-line steps up and Boldin comes back, I think this team will be pretty good. Last years Cards would have lost 40 to 3 or something. The Cards were still in it late, I love that part of it.

As my dad said after the game:

"Not even Joe Montana could have thrown behind that line."

I agree with the statement that the picks were him trying to make something out of nothing. It's just as Dennis Green said, that the quarterback can't try to do everything, or he'll throw picks.
