The Los Angeles Lakers, just days ago, were on an extended hot streak that saw them win eight games in a row and 20 out of 24. But now, they have a three-game losing streak and are very short-handed with LeBron James, Rui Hachimura and Jaxson Hayes, their three frontcourt starters, out of action due to injury.
Even worse, they have just started a difficult stretch of three sets of back-to-back games in a span of just eight days. It will be a trying stretch for a Lakers team that is thin and small right now.
But forward Dorian Finney-Smith said after Thursday's loss to the Milwaukee Bucks that the Lakers need this adversity and that it will help them improve.
If the Lakers are going to benefit from this adversity, they better start now. They will face the Denver Nuggets, who have been their own personal Kryptonite over the past two years, on Friday in Colorado. They will play Denver again, this time at home, next Wednesday before hosting the Bucks the following evening.
L.A. currently has a 40-24 record and is clinging to fourth place in the Western Conference, although it is just one game behind the second-place Memphis Grizzlies.
