I see we are drafting guys who are continuing onto college.

1. Does the player get the money even though they are heading to college?
2. How long do we have their rights for?
3. A. Is it possible guys we drafted will get redrafted by another team? B. What happens to the money then?

1. If a player signs they will not go into college. Most of these guys will sign and start their professional careers.

2. We have to sign them by sometime in August . If not then the team loses the pick and the allocated bonus pool money along with it. If a first round pick doesn't sign the team losing the player gets compensated the following year. This is why we had pick 26.

This is why you see teams draft high end high school guys earlier than their ranking suggests they should go sometimes. Also why you see a team like the Mets draft a high upside / expensive guy like Matthew Allen and then select a bunch of college seniors. The college seniors have ,ero leverage and can be signed for pennies in most cases and that money can be spent on the player with leverage(in this case Allen).

I do remember reading guys that have reported to their colleges after being drafted, and playing for college teams. Like you said, I imagine their money gets reallocated, and the team gets compensated the the following draft?
