RB Melvin Gordon is meeting with the #AZCardinals today. Lot of talk about Adrian Peterson. Gordon a younger, cheaper option.

There gonna meet with 50 guys from now until the draft. This isn't news.

Perhaps not to you, but others on this Board may find it interesting on whom the draft prospects are that the Cards have meetings with.

They'd have to move up for Shelton, but these guys interest me. I like Mighty Mouse as a slot cover but we have that in Mathieu.

Cheaper? In the first round? I doubt it.

With slotted salaries for rookies, #23 in the first round would be peanuts compared to the $8-9 Million per year guaranteed that AP wants. Last years #23 signed a 4 year contract worth just over $8 million total...

Nice.

Some good names on that list.

Clive Walford may end up being the BPA when our 2nd round pick comes along and he would fit the Cardinals system very well in my opinion.

I like that that Cardinals are making sure they take a look at players projected across the draft.

A player like Blake Bell could end up being a steal in the 7th round or as a UDFA.

De'Marieya Nelson, FB, Arizona State (LOC) <--- Now that is an interesting player. Sounds like a great athlete that needs to learn a position. Kind of like Blake Bell, and Edmond Robinson in this draft.

Danny Shelton

All are good players. Davis can be a beast, but needs a more consistent motor.

I guess that I am the big nay-sayer this time, but I just can't see paying that kind of money for AP when there are so many good backs in this year's draft. First off, Peterson has been out of football for a full year now, and he is getting long in the tooth and has a lot of tread-wear on his tires. We don't even know if he comes back to football with the same skill set that he left with----and even if he did, the years available, and the reduced cost per year fairly screams out to me to pass on AP for someone out of this draft to pair with Ellington. Just my opinion.

I just read the post on the Official Card's site, and they pretty much say the same as I just did here in this post. I just don't see AP in our future, (considering the costs involved to do so).

Would the Cards take Gordon at #24 if he is still there?

I don't think they would as there are a lot of good RBs in this draft and they can still get a good one on any of the rounds from 2 to 4.
Other thoughts?

Is he a bigger Emmit is the question? He has shake and bake with wheels. Is he physical enough? BUT It is a deep draft. You could still get a quality NFL ready back who can split time in the 3rd RD.

Other Problem is by the end of the 2nd Rd. our option for LB will be nill. You'd have to be happy with someone like Molden, say. It also takes you out of the running for OL, mtl.

The kid from Indiana, Coleman would be a good get in the 2nd.

Yeah, the Cards like him and have met with him.

Here is who CBS Sorts Dane Brugler compares him to:

DeMarco Murray, Dallas Cowboys - With similar body types and run styles, Coleman mirrors a lot of what Murray does on the football field, running with athleticism, toughness and the home-run ability to carry an offense.

I'm right there with you.

I won't be mad if we make a move for AP, but it seems like we can augment this team with a much cheaper risk, and perhaps help our future rather than mortgage it.
