I saw it and it was fine. Not my favorite Costner sports movie but not the worst movie I've seen even recently.

I saw it with my sister, and yes I rolled my eyes at the trades that were being made, but I wanted to see it with her because she's not big football fan other than watching the occasional Cards game with me, and it was all interesting to her and none of the trades bothered her.

It's like Cheese was saying, we nit pick the trades and how things were done, phone calls that were made, but we live and breathe this stuff. We are not normal haha...

To the layperson, this was just a fun sports movie with romance and likable characters. Gotta suspend reality a bit and realize that normal people are not freaking out about the Seahawks picking first because they dont know how the draft works and more importantly they dont care! lol

Not sure why anyone would see this in a theatre.

Um, huh? It's a movie. You must be tuned into the lucrative straight-to-DVD market. :)

Saw the movie, and yes, it lacked realism, but it was a decent time, and while I thought Costner sleepwalked through a lot of it, Jennifer Garner (who I thought had far and away the best performance in the movie) and some of the character actors sprinkled throughout made it more worthwhile.

It's basically an armchair quarterback's wet dream. The GM of a pro football team pulls off completely unrealistic trades to produce one of the single-most successful first-day drafts in history. Realistic? No way. But definitely entertaining.

That's one of the problems--it wasn't even a blockbuster draft. I didn't even like the draft, considering what was given up/what was gained. I'll explain below:

A high 1st-round talent and a mid to late first round talent, in exchange for a high #1 and THREE #2s. How is that a 'best draft ever' scenario?

Plus, I found none of the peripheral story lines interesting or believable.

No offense, but that is hardly surprising... ;)

Hey atleast we weren't the crappy team he was trying to fix! :p Though now this is the 2nd time a Cleveland team has been such a focus in a major motion picture about horrible, hopeless franchises. Whens the Cavaliers movie coming out? haha

Beyond the sun.
The moment in the movie when we hear the line, "I'm not stupid. I follow the mock drafts.", I knew my money was wasted.

i was terminally bored today, so I went to see if the movie was as bad as the script. Yeah...wow. it was.

the end run that Sonny pulls off at the end doesn't just defy NFL Draft logic, it defies all reality that the film set up in the first five minutes. I mean...taking advantage of the rookie GM...okay. the actual trade itself is a tough beat to swallow for NFL fans, but it's not beyond ridiculously stupid. but the next trade he makes was a classic movie magic trick, that literally happens for no rhyme or reason.

knowing the NFL or not, for what rhyme or reason does a team give up 3 first round picks...and their best Punt Returner to move up ONE spot so the team can draft a guy...they didn't want in the first place at the beginning of the movie? i mean...that was just ludicrously illogical plotting.

at least they didn't include the storyline about the Offensive Coordinator legend who was giving Sonny tips the entire time who eventually becomes the HC after Sonny fires Dennis Leary's character. that was a wise script edit before it went to production.

Decided to watch this tonight. I think the problems with this movie were way more than nitpicking. Basically, when all the trades were stripy down this is what it came to:

seattle traded the #1 pick in the draft and a good punt returner for the #6 pick, and the Browns traded 3 second round picks for the #1 overall pick in the draft. I am all about taking out my brain for a mindless movie, but how does any of that even make the tiniest bit of sense?

This is the single stupidest sports movie ever made. More absurd than "Air Bud", less realistic than "Space Jam".

The GMs in this film have less trading prowess than a 4 year old playing monopoly.

I watched it out of morbid curiosity... I regret it. My soul hurts.
