5. Arizona Cardinals – Jamaal Anderson, defensive lineman, Arkansas. Both VP of football operations Rod Graves and head coach Ken Whisenhunt share the belief that you go after the best player on the board. If Thomas is removed from the equation, it is hard to believe they would just squeeze the next best tackle on the board into this pick. They have a need to secure the services of a playmaker to line up opposite pass rusher Bertrand Berry. Opposing offensive coordinators would be unable to double-team both Berry and Anderson, who fits the profile of being this year's version of Mario Williams – a pass rusher whose stock suddenly rose as the draft approached.

I also think that will be our pick. It isn't a flashy pick but I think Whiz wants to get bigger on the defensive line and a 290 lb. DE would fit the bill. He is big enough to help with the run but would also upgrade the pass rush. He would also be a good fit if the team has plans to go to a 3-4 scheme. This guy will eventually be a 300 + pounder at defensive end. Those guys are few and far between.

I agree. One of the problems with Chike Okeafor, is he's an undersized pass rushing end. That's why he started succeeding when Bert went down. Jamaal Anderson will help that.

I agree 100% that assessment. The only problem is that this is not a sexy pick and everyone on this board will be killing the Cards for making picking him.

It also goes with some of the rumors I've heard that we'll see Chike standing up a lot this year. He was very effective coming off the edge in the standing position. I think Chike and Anderson would go a long ways to helping in the switch to the 3-4.

i'd be okay with the pick and i tend to be one of the cards' harshest critics. I'd be pissed if we passed on Peterson, but drafting a stud two-way DE would not make me mad.

I'm going to be ripped when we pass on Landry.

Agreed, if Thomas is gone I think we'll select Anderson also. Not a bad choice and it's an area of need.

One of the DEs is the most likely pick but there is still a good chance Thomas will be available. Usually there is one pick in the top 5 that is not a popular pick. With 2 QBs available this also increase our chances.

May as well get ripped right now. Falling in love with one player while ignoring the team's moves and positioning is guaranteed to disappoint.

Landry would have been considered a slight reach, even before we went and signed Holt. Now that Holt is signed, you can pretty much guarantee that Landry will not be our guy.
