What Green basically did was clean out Mac's group of guys and this team really is an expansion team. Why not resign Warner now for three years (I believe at 34 the guy has that or at least say 2 years in an extension) and let Leinart learn from him. If not Leinart start thinking about getting Rivers. either way use that 1 pick to secure a QB. I was hoping the team would load up on linemen in the upcoming draft but that puts us at the same place we where this year- a lot of inexperience destroying the prime years that Boldin and Fitz have on their contracts with us. Use that first pick on a QB and then draft the best players available so we don't have to reach.

Then with a VENGENCE-go after any quality free agents in the OL or DL. That new stadium looks sweet and it would be a shame to sacrifice another year with a bad line with a young qb running for his life.

I agree 100% on the re-signing of Warner. Even if he has lost a step he will make a great backup down the road.

I guess the bigger question is will he stay ?? Does he want to be on this horrible team. I bet about now he was wishing he would have gone with the Bears.

Sign Warner for 2 more, get Leinart in the draft, go after Hutch and get him at ALL costs ( well, almost all ) and one other lineman  in FA. With those moves we will be a 24+ points a game team...... :koolaid:

Warner would like to stay in Arizona, he has stated that. Even Mike Jurecki said that it makes sense to resign Warner but not at $4 million per year. I agree that we have to get a good young qb in the off season. However, I think we will win a couple of games and not have a chance at Leinart. I don't know who the so called qb of the future will be, maybe someone else will shoot up on the draft charts.

With as bad as our record is, with our only two wins coming from Josh, I wish that we would have saved the 4 Mil and let Warner go to the Bears too.

After Sunday's press conference, I don't think Warner wants to stay here. Just a hunch, but I don't know if any dollar amount can keep him here.

I'm for re-signing Warner if we are intending to draft a franchise QB. Its kind of hard to say at this point however, what are chances are of drafting a franchise QB. If we win some games and don't have a shot at drafting a bonafide future starter, I'm not sure we wouldn't want to see what other options we have at bringing in a free agent.

I think he'll come back if asked. First, there's not many other teams in the league (if any) where he'll be asked to start another year, and secondly, he's in a pretty sweet situation with Fitz and Boldin--even if he did start somewhere else is he going to get to throw as much and to as talented WRs.

The oline has really been pass blocking pretty well, so I don't think that's too much of a negative.

If we draft a franchise QB, Warner would be a nice option to retain. He seemed to be a team player in that situation with the Giants. It does defintiely diminish McCown's value, though, so I guess we'll see him depart.

I'm all for drafting Leinart.. Warner... eh... i guess as long as he is not the long term guy. If we do this.. I hope at least by week 8 that Leinart gets to start. I am a big believer in playing the young guys so they can learn and develop.

As much as I love Leinart I also don't believe we will be in a position to draft him. I think there are still a couple of QB's that will be available in the draft who Warner could groom for a year or two. With our first pick solidify one of our lines with players like Haloti Ngata from Oregon on the D, Eric Winston or Jon Scott on the O line. In the second we should be able to pick up a QB like Charlie Whitehurst, Drew Olsen or my personal favorite Jay Cutler. We could then use the rest of the draft for either adressing needs or BPA.

Is jay Cutler the QB from Vanderbilt?

When did Warner give up on his quest to be an NFL starter?

You all really think that he's going to put himself in the same situation he put himself in with the Giants (Manning)?

He may not have a choice. I don't see any other teams looking for a past their prime QB to carry their team to the next level. Any team that picks him up will immediately name him the starter while they look elswhere for their future starter (just like us). Kurt knows that if he stays here he will be the starter for at least another year.

Last year Warner brought up retirement as a possibility when asked about being a backup. My guess is that he'll be looking for a chance to compete for a starting job again next year instead of playing caddy to his eventual replacement. Detriot, Baltimore, and perhaps a couple other place might give him the opportunity to compete.

True, but we are not asking him to be a backup. We all know Green wants to win every game he can. The only way a rookie takes the field is if Kurt is either injured or the season is over. The other teams that will be looking for a veteran QB won't fit his style as well as the Cards do.
