No doubt he'd be a mismatch problem. It wasn't just technique with him, though. He's extremely thin for the position, though I don't know what he weighs. If he adds a lot of muscle mass, will that slow him down? I mean, I won't kid you; I'd love to have him on our team, not just because I'm a Penn State homer. I wouldn't draft him high, that's all.

According to the NFL profile he's 6'-5" and 247 lbs. Agree, a little light for a TE. If a team could get him to 260, that would be 13 more lbs. and you would hope most of it would be muscle, he could be a real problem and an adequate blocker. Maybe even at 255 lbs. he might be okay. As another PSU homer I am also higher on Hamilton than most. NFL profile is projecting him as a 1-2 round selection. Link if you are interested. They do mention his blocking liabilities. I think it's a pretty accurate description of Gesicki.

Problem is, does he slow down with those 13 extra pounds?

I like Hamilton a lot too, and would love it if we drafted him.

Hard to say, if it's all muscle would that affect his speed at all? I really don't know.

Harry shows Gesicki being available in the third round. That will never happen, Gesicki will be long gone before the middle of the second round. I still think the Saints take him at #27.

There’s no question that despite some drops Gesicki is a skilled receiver. He also is a terrible blocker. So the question is what will a team pay for a one demensional TE. It’s certainly possible that a team grabs him in round 2 especially if they’re looking for a safety valve or third down receiver. I just think it’s possible he lasts until round 3. In recent years the draft has become more unpredictable. Partly because teams are doing more independent scouting and are less dependent on scouting services. I’ve talked to evaluators who had him late one, early two. However, more people had him later.

when you look at all the measurables... Gesicki compares very favorably to Kelvin Benjamin... could a team maybe move him to WR??

Gesicki 4.54 40yd 22reps 41.5 vert 6.76 3cone 4.10 shuttle at 6'5" 247 lbs

Benjamin 4.61 40yd 13reps 32.5vert 7.33 3cone 4.39 shuttle at 6'5" 240 lbs

Jimmy Graham is also in a similar mold but at 260 he has more stone in his ass for blocking... but Gesicki is faster, quicker, and stronger than Benjamin and since he cant block it makes sense to try him at WR...match him up against 5'11" 190lb corners where he can use his height and his 41" vert to come down with lots of catches.

They split Gesicki out on a few plays. Typically guys who look fast at TE, don’t look so quick when covered by a CB. 13 reps is scary!

I agree... I have never watched the kid,..was basing my speculation on 40 time, three cone, and shuttle drills.... he appears to be faster and twitchier than Benjamin with comparable size...plus he has a better vert.
