There could still be a lot of groaning depending on who's available and which future 160lb. European "power forward" bust the Suns front office falls in love with. Or, the Suns could go with a safe, earthen-bound college player who will be putting their accounting degree to good use in three years. Or, the Suns could go with an athletically-gifted, ethically challenged teenager who will fall asleep during practices and ride the pine for four years as the fans wonder why the coach is so insane as to be sitting such a formidable talent.
Any way you look at it, the No. 21 pick is unlikely to be as exciting as we think it will be before the draft. We'll look back on this in a year and, with 20-20 hindsight, wonder why the Suns didn't have the foresight to draft the future All-Pro some team picked up with the 44th pick.
I've been doing this for a few years, and after buying into the hype of an 8th-round Bulgarian who didn't speak English and no amount of pixie dust could lift his feet off the ground, I remain interested but not emotionally involved. That's the safe bet, no matter where the Suns are picking.
